When a bag is prominently displayed in our favorite movies (like in The Proposal, Sandra Bullock with a Prada), we take notice and decide that we really love the bag (or not) after seeing it in action for 2 hours, how it looks on the shoulder, swinging through the streets and sitting on the lap. Unfortunately, by the time the movie comes out, the bag is already last season’s story and nowhere to be found.
I am already certain that that will be the case for the Givenchy Eclipse Hobo on Rachel McAdams in, Morning Glory, set to release in 2010 with co-star Harrison Ford about a struggling morning TV show. I LOVE this bag in patent leather but the slouchy shape crinkles up the patent too much, making it crease and wrinkle in bad ways, but this cut leather version is perfection. It is not stamped to look like snake but rather is cut so it has the texture and feel with curled edges. It is perfectly uniform so you can tell it is not real snake, which I prefer, it is just for effect. Be ahead of the curve and get this bag now, at Barneys New York for $1675.
But the leather looks like snake and then it isn´t. Bad thing. It is also huge, at least carried by the actress and the color is anemic. I can´t find a thing I like about this one.

Back to the bag, I love it at first look. The color is classic, the bag design is easy to love (it lays flat against your body), it’s a great size for girls who doesn’t like to censor what goes in their bags, and the cut leather effect creates great texture for the bag! I love looking at the bag (and McAdams)…
Seeing it on Net-a-Porter though, I rather think that the curled up edges will be a problem for me since I generally do not like evidence of wear and tear on bags I like~, and the curled up edges make the bag look worn even when it is new!?

Ah! Now this is my kind of bag! Large, functional, understated elegance! Right up there with Bally and the less in your eye – Prada! I for one love the bag Sandra wore in the proposal & would snap it up in a second if I could find it!
