Hopefully you can help me decide. I have a friend that has a Chanel Pink/Black Python Flap that she would like to trade for my Bottega Veneta Python Sloane. As much as I love the Chanel Python Flap, I do like my Sloane. I also believe my Sloane is also a bit younger. Which bag is more “snob worthy”. Should I trade? Please help.

Please bear in mind that I have the most respect and love for Chanel classic range.
The Chanel is trendier and spices up a plainer outfit. However, keep the BV. It’ll last longer, it has more practicality to it, it looks bigger, it still makes a pretty bold statement. Also, consider how often you go out. The Chanel is an out on the town type of bag, while the BV is casual and over-all chic.

The Chanel bag is very tempting. I´d like to know what these bags cost and what is their condition in general, before deciding.
Hrm… the Chanel bag is peculiar. Part of me imagines a simple outfit like jeans and a white tee-shirt and I think about that great contrast. While for a split second I think Britney or Paris Hilton using it for Halloween.
The BV I must admit has more miles in terms of pairing it with outfits and it has this chic-factor without trying to hard.
I guess if you want value BV and a night on the town I’d go Chanel.

The question I’d be asking is: why does this person want my bag and why is she willing to give away her Chanel to get it?
There is no doubt in my mind that you should keep the Bottega. It’s a classic, whereas that particular Chanel happens to be a trendy (and not so easy on the eyes) item that is far from timeless.
Ughh. Keep the Sloane!

Apart from being python these bags have basically nothing in common! I’ve had a lot of accessories dilemmas in my time but never one where I wondered “hmm, do I want the beige or the hot pink/black?” Don’t think of it as a trade, imagine they are both in front of you in a store. Which one do you want to buy? Consider what your needs are–if you already have 40 bags in your closet to fulfill various functions then just go with your gut, but if you only have a few high quality bags think carefully about how you could wear the Chanel, what you’d wear it with, how often you could use it etc. Because of the crazy colors I don’t think it looks “old” at all but it is definitely more eye catching and less versatile, not to mention it probably holds less.
i think they are both ugly…
having said that the sloane is the less ugly of the two, so keep it!
i agree with wendy ^^ 2 different bags that serve 2 different purposes! i would love to have both. BV for shopping while wearing something dressy casual, Chanel pink python for those “show off” days like a party or cool lounge session (not too crazy I would hate to scuff or spill on those beautiful scales)
In conclusion, they are like apples and oranges
Keep your BV! You’ll get miles more use out of it.
OK, now that a lot of you have weighed in, my answer was to keep the BV Sloane, no question. But I am glad to see so many opinions about this, it makes it so much more fun!

I am weighing in a tad late, but I must tell you, Roe, that I have lusted over that BV bag for two years. They had one in the BV store near me, and I just couldn’t spend the $. It is THE single bag that I most wish had never gotten away….and, as you can imagine, there have been a few in that catagory. I could kick myself for not buying it, on sale no less, when I had the chance. That bag, in person, is incredably beautiful. If you trade that bag, you’ll need to be committed, since it would be pure insanity.
