I've obsessed over the magenta purple
Helmut python bag that Gwyneth Paltrow's been showing off all over town for months now but was not able to locate it for myself. Why, you ask? Because Tod's felt it was too expensive for the American market (we are in a serious economic crisis afterall) and Gwyn got the only one in the US! So unfair right? Tod's hobo in purple python! It's a big slouchy fabulous bag with the most functional and aesthetically pleasing outer pocket I have ever seen on a bag. Most outer pockets stick out like sore thumbs and have annoying flaps but
Derek Lam designed this one to function like a pocket on a pair of trousers (I just love that word "trousers"-- it rolls off the tongue so chicly, though I don't love wearing them). It's so easy to slip your hand in and pull out anything you want discreetly (lipgloss, cell, you phone number for hot guy at bar!?). It's quite large at 35cm but it slouches and appears smaller when carried on the shoulder. I traveled with it to LA (we're attending the Tod's Beverly Hills party with Derek Lam later today) and have been stopped constantly by fellow bag snobs who just wanted to touch it. It's super lightweight with a silk lining and has 3 large pockets for blackberries/iphones/and whatever gadgets you fancy. I was prepared to pay big bucks for this when I saw it but the price tag inside surprised me-- $2,350 for a GIANT gorgeous PYTHON bag!?!?! Email

See the side pocket? You zip it up and nothing falls out and can discreetly pull out your lipgloss to apply or you cell for fast and easy access.
Simple back side with lush python skin and no hardware to distract from the beauty of the bag.
There is a little bit of hardware here to hold the strap that supports the bottom of the bag. The handle is also a Tod's classic that Derek pulled out of archives.
The bottom of the bag has the wraparound effect but its functionality is to keep the bag in its shape so it never becomes shapeless.
Huge interior pockets, Derek knows that a girl needs her gadgets to get through her day! Are you not in love with this bag? It's my "snob" bag of the season!!!

Amazing! This is a great bag and so functional, I want it!
I have this same bag in regular black leather--i needed a pracitcal (but great) black bag and this is what I chose. (of course, it's not so fab as a purple python!!) Anyway, this bag feels "good" on, is roomy without being crazy and the sideways front pocket is great. It would be better if I carried my bag on my left shoulder since then that sideways pocket would be toward me rather than behind me. . .maybe I need to retrain myself!

I think this is not python, maybe it's karung snakeskin or a different species. Can you confirm please that it's python? The scales don't look like python scales...just want to know before ordering.

Saw it at Saks, the Sales Rep said they are out of purple but she might be able to look for it if I really want it. It also comes in Green. It is indeed gorgeous. On top of that she also mentioned that there's 25% off. Sigh, if only I wasn't that stupid to have bought the large leather version at a Tod's outlet earlier today. I am crying right now.

Oh and i checked in London , Paris, Milan , Florence & Dubai they all didn't have it they only had the Baulutto the one Gwyneth Paltrow was carrying !
