Ferragamo Marisa Bag
By Bag Snob Kelly
April 8, 2009

snob_quiz_bag_4-6.jpgThe Ferragamo Marisa in Mercury with hand braided and knotted detail is possibly the first Ferragmo bag I’ve liked in about 15 years.

In my mid-20′s I went through a period where I wanted people to think I was much older so I wore Chanel jackets with either Chanel bags or top handled Ferragmo bags (the Kelly looking ones with the giant buckle). I came to my senses finally when I saw a photo of myself that looked like a little kid playing dress up.  I passed my Ferragamo bags on to my older aunts and never gave Ferragamo a though again. This gorgeously crafted bag, however, is making me re-think the classic brand.

The knotted details look striking in the metallic washed leather and the braiding on top flap and bottom corners further lend the bag interest.  Unfortunately it’s still very mature looking– beautiful as it is, it’s not hip or edgy.  But then again, I am finally mature enough to wear Ferragamo which is probably why this appeals to me.  Call Sarah at the Ferragamo boutique for more details! 214-234-0596

The detail on this bag is beautiful. It looks like a lot of thought and hard work went into making it. Also I would say it’s mature rock-n-roll. I love it.

Tina we must about the same age b/c i bought one of those top handled black Ferragamo bag as well about 15 years ago (it’s still in the bag of the closet or maybe at my mom’s b/c she borrows it every year and every year I tell her to keep it:)..i think she even stop borrowing it the last few years and moved on to borrowing my chanels and hermes bags. I couldn’t afford chanel jackets yet back then:) i also had those Ferragamo low heel granny pumps in my early 20′s..gave those away 10 years when i left my corporate job to start my own business…And I agree with you on this beautiful bag..while i have not bought any Ferragamo is years, the last year or so, some of the bags from this company are getting better and better…..This one is beautiful!!

Good Lord, I almost passed out. Sensational. My tastes must be evolving. This is far more ornate than I typically love my bags to be. But I can’t deny Ferragamo has really stepped up their shoe/bag collection of late. Darn you, Tina! Darn you. It’s not as though I need any encouragement at all to shop. LOL.

Frankly I dont know if it’s bad taste or good taste. it’s surely dont coincide with french “bon gout”, but it’s rock and roll, sort of gladiator style, I would not be surprised if Vivienne Westwood would have done it. I think some day I like it and some other day I will find it repulsive !

I’m not sure how I feel about this bag. At first glance, I really liked it. But, the more I look at it, it just seems a bit gaudy.

Gaudy is the only word for it, just too much detail.

This is the kind of bag that would look sensational with a deep blue shirtdress. This bag is beautiful. I love Ferragamo, and ha, yes back in the day it seems to have been the trend to carry Ferragamo bags that were way to old for us.

Too much going on! I agree with Marlena, this bag is horrid. I wouldn’t never give it a second look at any age.

I like the color of this bag, and the shape, but it’s a bit too ornate for me. I like Ferragamo in general, though. I have a fab pair of Mary Jane heels that I bought in the fall, and I bought a tote last spring with the leopard print in brown and pink shades(and a cute little turtle on it, too). I forget the name of the design. I use it for travel and I get compliments on it all the time from all ages, men and women. It’s very unique and it fits all my airplane loot (book, daytimer, magazines, bottled water, etc.) I noticed they aren’t carrying that design this year, so I’m probably so out of fashion, but I love it!

This bag looks neat. It can highlight any outfit in daytime/night time. Any idea how much this cost?

This bag is “strangely” attractive! I’m not a big fan of Ferragamo but I do like this one….with an all black outfit, maybe!
