Jil Sander Nappa Boudin Tote

I am envisioning a girl, maybe me, wearing a summer shift dress in sandals, flats, skipping down the street with a giant smile. It's like a typical ad for anything but none of it works if she has a shoulder bag or giant tote, she needs this Jil Sander top handle tote that is small and white white. I just discovered that giant white bags do not really work (just had to return one), there is way too much surface area to worry about, but a small white bag is essential for summer fun. Well, this isn't tiny tiny, but I love that it folds in for a bowler shape or opened for a bigger tote. The rolled thread handles are all the details that is needed for the sumptuous soft leather, you wouldn't want to ruin the pristineness. Also comes in black (and the Crackled Black which I think is gross) but none of what I just said would apply. At Barneys New York for $1575.

Prada's Road to Peril

Prada might be facing the end if they do not figure something out quickly. Last year, their only saving product was the LG phone. Huh?? This is a design house built on bags! There are reports that say the company (including Miu Miu and Car Shoe) is losing something like $50 Million a day. How long do you think that can last? Taking a look over the past few seasons, it is easy to see the slippery slope that got them to this point. Fall 2007 was very promising, they came out with weird but inventive Muff Clutch that you slip your hand through but the big winner of that season was the muted earth tones that they did in ombre. It was a smash hit with style still classically Prada. Then last Fall, the lace and ruffles that look like wontons were silly and not wearable but still were spotted on the most serious of fashion victims, which was a good sign for Prada, it showed that their name still held power with some women. And now we have the Antique hobo which were only seen on celebrities who probably got it for free. How many of these can they really sell just based on the fact that the name Prada used to represent the chic and carefree fashion goddess? How can Prada be saved? I really wish I can help.

Carlos Falchi Celebrates 30 Years at Bergdorf

On April 23rd Carlos Falchi celebrated 30 years at Bergdorf Goodman with a retrospective exhibition. Not only were there gorgeous pieces dating back to the 70s on display, but Falchi designed 10 one-of-a-kind bags for the occasion. The designer himself was there and explained that five of the limited edition handbags were inspired by styles from his archives and five were inspired by New York City. When I asked Falchi about his favorite he said that they were all his babies and he couldn't choose, but if forced to pick he pointed to the Blue Python Signature Satchel ($3,940) pictured above along with its original sketch. Paris Hilton does not eat that

parishiltonchewyvuitton.jpgParis Hilton was asked on tape if she was concerned about the outbreak of the Swine flu on TMZ today and her response was "I don't eat that". Okay then!  Apparently she is as wise and in tune to current events as ever.

She's toting her furry dog bed called Chewy Vuitton here which I'm certain her dog will eat which makes it a total waste of money.

I don't know, is it me or is she getting more annoying with age and Nicole Richie getting less annoying?

What do you think?

Nancy Gonzalez Fall 2009 Bags Part Deux

One of the biggest perks of being The Bag Snobs is that we get to shop when we preview bags at showrooms. We order bags for the upcoming seasons and plan our wardrobe accordingly. Of course we have absolutely zero self control and want to buy everything in sight but we've come up with a good system for controlling each other. We have a method to our shopping madness and by following our guideline we are able to shop selectively and wisely (cuz there is a no return policy when you order straight from showrooms!). The rock-n-roll fabulous grommet clutch above is one that we both went wild over at the Nancy Gonzalez showroom over Fashion week.  Nancy calls it "urban guerilla" chic~ love it!  I got the liquid black crocodile and Kelly got the gun metal gray version above. Mine has not arrived yet so I don't have photos but here are some we took at the showroom. This clutch is truly spectacular-- Nancy thinks of everything! A back pocket to hold valet tickets or cell phone, divided interior and a zippered center compartment makes it functional to find everything! The size is really perfect, too-- it's around 12" wide and 6" high. It will be available at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Email Connie to get on the wait list now!!! Nancy Gonazalez bags also available at Saks. (Jump to see more fabulous Fall bags and details of NG sample sale going on today and tomorrow~!)

Carlos Falchi Oversized Handy Python Clutch

carlosfalchi_oversizehandyclutch.png

Oversized clutches are handy but this is "handy" on a whole other level. Literally handy, many many hands with rings and bracelet on to boot. Wow. This pushes the outer boundaries of ugly. I might have to take back everything good ever said about Carlos Falchi. Only the hands are of python, the rest is textured cracked leather, which is an interesting choice because they usually use snake or crocodile on lotion commercials to represent dryness. This is not even funny and costumey for special dress up occasions like Halloween, it's just bad. Maybe this is the "Why can't we all get along" version of patchwork to work in different patterns, colors and textures. But I am being lenient and kind flexing all my might to find an explanation and bright side to something that defies all rationale. At Bergdorf Goodman for pre-order, $1510. Thankfully, this is not allowed to be sold in California.

Lambertson Truex Small Canvas Tote

Lambertson Truex filed for bankruptcy because they're not selling enough bags which I can understand because I have never bought a Lambertson and I can't say that I know someone who has. And that's pretty bad statistics. But this one seems ok. But then again, it's a canvas tote and the only one who can make an industry out of that is Tory Burch. This one is by far cuter and better though. The silver leather handles and the white canvas is so crisp and clean for the summer. The tote is not huge but the gusset is very generous so will still fit all your big summer items. There are nice side pockets and even comes with a shoulder strap. A nice gift for your mom if she needs one. At Saks Fifth Avenue

Madonna and the Mahina

madgeandmahina.jpgMadonna has my favorite Louis Vuitton bag of recent years, the slouchy chic Mahina. The shape is modern and casual and it manages to showcase the iconic (if over exposed) logo in a subtle manner. This is the XL size ($3,360 and almost 30" wide!), way too big for me and for a person who is recovering from a recent horse injury. But then again, she's grinding the ax at the gym already, what's a heavy bag!?!?  I personally like the L size ($2,740), it's still very large at 18" but it folds and drapes into itself, appearing much smaller.

She does look a bit off though, her coloring is very pale and she is missing that Madonna sparkle.  Maybe she should take more time and rest from her injury.  Louis Vuitton available online at eLUXURY.com  (Photo via People.com)
