Lanvin Amalia Double Bag

Oh Lanvin, how do I love thee... even when thy chains would break and thy bags would sag I knew one day thy love of ribbons and chains will function in harmony. Seriously, Lanvin has had a long and rough road with its bags but this just might be the season to believe again. Alber Elbaz is a genius when it comes to design, there is no question of that. But when it came to the technical issues, not so great. Thankfully the House of Lanvin is finally getting it right on all important points. I tried the new Amalia double bag this weekend, putting my wallet and heavy make up bag in there to see if it'd sag-- nope (the bag is strengthened by a wider bottom and piping along the edge to ensure it keeps its shap). I pulled on the newly designed double looped chains with comfy leather shoulder straps and whipped it around to see if it'd break-- nope (my Lanvin from last year survived over 12 months of abuse as well). And the size is 15"x9"-- same as the Chanel jumbo but more functional as it won't topple over. So now we can finally admire and acquire Lanvin bags safely without worry. It sold out at Net-a-Porter.com as quickly as it appeared but US bag snobs can purchase at Barneys New York in many colors. I love the ecru cream but black is a safer bet if you can only buy one bag this year. $2,030 at Barneys New York.

  • Lanvin rocks, I'm going to check the bag out at Barneys later this week. I'm excited!

  • love the cream color..the bag reminds me of Chanel...can't wait to see it in person.

  • So cute, especially in the cream color! I agree with ping, it definitely gives off a Chanel-vibe, but not in a copy-cat kind of way. I really like it! Youthful but sophisticated.

  • This is the Lanvin bag I was telling you about at Fashion Week! Ugh... I'm in love. Then I found out what the name was. Amalia is the name of one of my coworkers. Ick. Now that I see it though, I'm wanting it again. Dammit Tina!

  • Does anyone know if the name AMALIA is after Amalia Dayan, a NY gallerist and close friend of Mr Elbaz? I was just wondering

  • i like that pink handbag, so lovely ,
