Are you eagerly anticipating the Coco duffel from Alexander Wang? Well, delivery is not until July/August so you can either wait patiently or jump on one of his Spring 2009 bags now. This funky zip up tote is my fave from the spring season even though it's totally the opposite of me but that's why I like it! Everything about it is urban tough girl chic; the distressed leather, zippers and fringed handles-- all have a raw element to it. When zipped up, it looks like a completely different tote! Alex is of course obsessed with zippers and studs and this is a cool way to incorporate the punky look yet still keep it functional. This is one of his pricier bags at $825 so maybe you should wait for the Coco after all. But just imagine how many hundreds of girls will have the Coco duffel... Yes, the enlarged look does remind me a bit of YSL DT. When closed,the design is totally lost. The leather looks like canvas in the picture.
I am surprised you didn't mention in your review this looks so much like YSL downtown tote. You don't even have to be a die-hard handbag aficionado to see the similarities.
Actually dela, I thought of that in the shape but that's where the similarities end. I'm not saying this is totally original but the use of zipper is. And it's a leather, Mette. Not canvas, Alex does a distressing to his leather that does not photograph well.
Because of the zippers I made an immediate connection with YSL. YSL DT also has few zippers here and there. Between the two, I actually like this one better.
Not bad, but shape could be better.IMO
