Urban street style bags rule today. I am really into this tote from, gulp, 7 For All Mankind. I remember when they launched the bag line a couple of years back but I didn't pay much attention-- I mean I was over my 7 jeans why would I want 7 bags? Guess again. This is not only an edgy and cool bag, it's quite versatile at 14"x12". What did it for me was the staple banding at front and back though, it's just so... tough girl chic. The wrinkled leather further gives it that rock n roll disheveled look-- this is actually giving me the urge to pierce something (kidding!). What a great bag to travel with or use on rainy days/errand days/work days-- in fact, it's so gently priced you can use it as a gym bag if you wish. Seriously, $595 is a very difficult price point but this one hits it! That's our new catchphrase. We hate the word cheap-- who wants to carry something that is "cheap"!?!? So we're referring all frugal snob bags as "gently priced".

great price great tote
Yes, gentle pricing is fab!
You know, it's hard to find a bag under $500,e verything is jjust so expensive. I like the size of this and how casual it is. Living in nyc, i need totes that will be able to take the weather. thanks snobs!
Would love to see more bags featured in the under $500 range. thanks!
Love the staple banding, it's sophisticated rocker chic. The size is great for hauling around a lap top and countless other gadgets.
This bag is rocking..but it's sad that nowdays a bag in the $500's is considered "cheap." I remember my first Fendi was around $550 and that was EXPENSIVE. I think the designers have to be realistic in this economy b/c the bag prices have just risen to ridiculous levels in the last few years (and the rise has been rather arbitrary).
While I realize that some people can easily afford a Chanel or even a Hermes bag, I'm glad you still feature bags in different price ranges. Im not trying to be doom and gloom and i have contributed to the economy by buying some of the more expensive bags, I really think some of the designers will realize that they will be out of the fashion business soon (along with some of the stores) b/c there will just not be enough disposable cash to buy the thousand dollar bags. All you have to do is go to your nearest Saks or Neimans, and the "waiting list" bags of the past are all on the shelves.
That said, I love your website bagsnobs and agree with "please help" that it would be great if you feature more bags in all ranges. Perhaps you can even use your influence with the designers that they need to cut prices b/c you know that some of the bags out there are so overpriced. That even includes my beloved Chanel and Hermes (although I doubt they will ever cut prices there:)))
I love this bag, although $595 does not qualify as cheap to me. I agree that the pricing in designer handbags nowadays seems sort of arbitrary. I have lived in several countries in South America and in Argentina, for example, you find great design and quality (because they are masters at working with leathers, even exotics), and the prices that you hear from some of the big labels just sound obscene compared to what I have purchased there. I guess part of the value for some consumers is just having everybody know you spent a thousand or more in the bag you are carrying, which does not make a lot of sense to me. I love some of the bags I see on this blog, and I love Hermes and Chanel because they are aesthetically impeccable, but blowing off a month's salary in a bag and considering anything else cheap is ridiculous. I would rather come across as someone with good taste and judgment.
" I would rather come across as someone with good taste and judgment."
Congratulations Jennifer, you just have...
I'm paying for two college educations these days and $595.00 will pay for one semester's books. Bag for me or books for one of my kids? Easy decision. That said, its not an unreasonable price like some we see from A-lister designers.
Jennifer, I agree with u 100%. As much as I love Hermes and Chanel and love the ones I own, to be honest, I'm a little turned off by all this arbitrary pricing. It's crazy people now think $500 is cheap (b/c it's all relative to the "A-lister" bags). At the same time, all we hear on tv and radio are doom and gloom.
I still love love this website b/c it's a great escape from the "real news." I was not joking when I said the bagsnobs should use their influence to these designers to lower their prices. Landlords are lowering rents, stores are having sales, why shouldn't Chanel or YSL or Gucci lower their prices....d\
FYI if anyone is interested, they are having an online sample sale tomorrow (3/6/09) you can get this at a much cheaper price.... Register to shop: http://www.gilt.com/invite/marianaleung
