Crayola Fendi

fendiforever.jpgI walked by the Fendi section at Neiman Marcus the other day and saw these bags in multiple sizes. I didn’t even blink. This is, after all, Fendi– and I have come to expect no less than absolutely atrocious and hideous bags from the line.  I barely flinched as I examined the bags and tossed them back on to the display shelves where they will certainly stay until Last Call.

I’m almost thinking that this is a licensing deal with Crayola; you know, as in you provide the crayons, we’ll color it in.  Fendi Forever bag at Saks.com $895

For your entertainment– here is another ridiculous bag from Fendi that I found on a Chinese blog.  Apparently Fendi is in an arts and crafts mood for 2009.  At Fendi boutiques worldwide.  Jump to see enlarged photo.

I don’t really know what to make of this bizarre bag.  But again, not surprised at all.  What do you think?

  1. The 2nd bag is really an eyesore. The first one is mainly just ridiculous.

  2. Both are hideous. The second one more so because it looks like someone tossed in some glitter and crayolas in the blender. Yuck.

“a licensing deal with Crayola”, Hilarious!

Yes these are garbage. And I’m sure we will

see them at Neimans Last Call.

Tina I know these bags are an eyesaw i haven’t really looked at Fendi since the spy but I am very interested to get my paws on the new fendi open style birkin….to take a look and see if they have finally made a bag that will be another hit…have you seen it in the flesh I know it’s featured in Vogue this month and Bazzar!

Interest to see what you snobs think and if you have seen the options of skin/leather etc it comes in?

P.S. I had some trouble posting over the weekend so this bit is on the wrong entry but wondered if you could answer me.

The NG post with the silver grey clutch VB toted in NY…you mention this is too big for you…I never really think oh that bag is too big for me, what factors do you take into account when deciding this doesn’t suit my frame or body type?

Also you mention often after taking stock of your collection you feel you need an injection of colour. When shopping for coloured bags do you tend to buy colours in classic style. And with colours that are “high fashion” and have a tendancy to go in and out should you limit your purchases to a tote and clutch?

Would be interested in your take on the above!

Oh and I also want to boycot Balmain I love some of there dresses but at 4000GBP + its just hideous have they always been that pricey!!

  6. The blue bag with that under-the-sea colours and the shell lace trim make the white “crayola bag” look somewhat decent. My god, what a waste of phyton skin on the second bag. The sad factory woker who had to twist and sew all those strips of textured fabric on. The bag is ridiculous. This must be a leak from the Fall/Winter 2010 collection. I hope they pull it.

The blue bag is as ugly as the patchwork Vuitton — no sane person should buy it.

  7. Hie Lottie. Big bags have been in style for a long time, not so much for trends anymore but for utility — we women have a lot of junk to carry, especially students and mothers.

But let’s see bag proportion as a sensible person sould regardless of utility or fashion. For daily bags that are not subject to travel use, I believe the widest point of the bag measured flat across should not be wider that your shoulders measured horizontal across. The height of the bag should not be longer than 1/3 of your actual height without shoes on. And the depth is no big deal but if you don’t want your arms/shoulders to be uncomfortable then it shouldn’t be more that the width of your face.

These are my personal preferences and I don’t have it down to a science of follow it to a T but it serves as a sensible guide for me. There is no “perfect size”. I love bags and being under 5’4″, I just do not want people to think I look stupid with a bag that is too big for me. Think Katie Holmes carrying her red 50cm Hermes HAC like it is a handbag — she looked absolutely retarded.

As for Fendi’s “unhinged Birkin”, I’m really looking forward to it as well. I just hope it is not as cumbersome as a Kelly bag.

When buying trend colours for bags, I like to choose a simpler style, like a satchel, with very minimal hardware or embellishments. Ideally, it should look like a Valextra Boston or Vuitton Speedy. It allows the bag to be eased into any wardrobe in any season regardless of whether the colour is in trend or otherwise. If you follow the Italians, then any colour is always in style — it’s how you wear it.

I have to agree on the first bag’s colors….attempt at eye candy and failed..too bad…the second bag is just way too busy with no bus to catch…still a Spy fan though!

LOL, the Crayola bag would have been perfect if it cost less than $50.

The other one even given free i wouldnt dare…or maybe i would for halloween!!!

Just awful! Crayola would never be part of this! haha

  11. The second bag is officially the most horrific bag I have ever seen in my life…& I’ve seen some awful ones!

I actually had to look away from the screen for a few minutes to try to erase that image from my retinas.

Fendi, do you think we’re idiots?? Just because you slap a high price tag on it does not make it remotely good. I am honestly frustrated and fed up of designers (& not only of bags) living in an alternate universe where they believe we consumers lap up everything they produce and lavish it with praise. Is it too much to ask for subtle elegance with an innovative twist anymore? It makes me very sad that I can’t spend my money..not because I’m hurting financially (thankgod) but because there is so little out there that’s worth buying.

….// okay rant over hah :)

O my goodness…. the chinese themed bags are just disgusting.. enough said. I personally do like Fendi but those bags are just awful! what were they thinking?!

  13. One wonders why fendi is still in business after seeing their parade of horrid bags. I have to admit though, that the spy, Baguette and the Selleria Pomodorino bags are still my favorites.

I suppose you can use it as a piece of home ornament, like a vase, if you got that kind of $. Well well, I’m lucky to have all my 3 fendi bags purchaded before 2008. haha

The first bag is not too bad but it does seems something a small child would carry. Now the second bag is just plain weird and not very attractive.

    HI Tina/Kelly,

Those 2 bags are quite hideous but Fendi has some nice bags though:the Spy,the Baguette(big/small),and the relatively “recent” Vintage Twins Tote.www.eluxury.com and http://www.net-a-porter.com has them.I recently bought the Vintage Twins Tote in soft plum and love the shape and size. It’s also very light!
