The "Coco" duffel from Alexander Wang generated much buzz before it's runway debut (thanks to Mary Kate Olsen who was seen totin' the bag around town weeks before fashion week!) and we now eagerly await it's arrival at stores in July. I'm just concerned that knock offs and copy cats will abound before the actual bag hits. While celebs are a fantastic marketing tool to promote a new bag, it may also be the death of one if released too early. No matter, I'm obsessed with this and will still get one; and I will await the original. Retail price is currently estimated at $899. What about you? Will you cave in to a copy cat earlier or patiently wait for the real thing?

I am so gonna wait, but I do hate it that the copies launch faster than the real thing!! I actually read an article on copies and fakes and how New Yorks Mayor is fighting to cut that industry down...I was shocked at how much money they make...did you see the feature in Harpers it was written by Dana, who wrote how luxury lost its lustre!?! Good price for a bag these days too, hope I manage to get my hands on it!

GASP! I LOVE IT! I would totally wait for this one. I don't understand what joy could come out of buying a fake or a knockoff. I'd feel dirty everytime someone asks, "Oooh is that the Alexander Wang?" Errr ... so uncomfortable!

The bag is beautiful, but I am BEYOND annoyed about it. I design bags and jewelry and had just put tons of feet all along the bottom of one of our python quilted bags. Now the world is going to think that I copied Alexander Wang because he is a much bigger name!
it depends how much the copycat is selling and the quality of the copycat. if the copycat is only a fraction of $900 with decent quality...why not? :P

i love the tough simplicity of this - sorta along these lines but different, i like the black Stinger bag by Jack Rabbit. i saw it in brit vogue - then on shopbop. black duffle with a minimal zipper down the middle, tough and chic. but not as expensive.

Ok, I was on a wait list for this bag for months....Finally got i t- it SUCKS. Clearly a bag designer did not design the bag...the way it falls, the weight, the shape , the opening, are ALL WRONG. I returned it next day....
VERY SAD, i love the design but the bad is very poorly executed...
