The Zip from YSL

We are working on a super exciting bag project that I can't talk about until it launches but during this fun work, I've come across many fabulous bags to share with you. YSL has been one of our favorites for years and for Spring 09, the line offers simple and functional hobos without any embellishment (save for the Y bow bag which you will most definitely read about later). I know this hobo looks almost plain but notice the zipper pulls on the bottom? Yup, the entire thing unzips into a bigger bag for multi functional use! Now this is not a bag to carry when you want 'wow' but rather a daily tote that will become a fixture in your wardrobe. Like that perfect cashmere sweater you wear year after year or the pair of black pants cut just right; in other words-- timeless and chic. $1245 for the beige patent leather, $1295 for the black taurillon leather. At YSL boutiques or check YSL at Saks.com for its new arrivals!

  • Would the zipper catch on your clothes though? I loved this bag until I saw the zipper on the bottom, it's cool and different, but I would opt for just the plain logo-less hobo in a heartbeat and that creamy leather!

  • Tina: great bag.

I have a question... Have you seen the medium Dior Bee tote bag on Neiman's website?? What do you think about the bag??

  • It's actually cute! I like!
Will do a review next week. What color are you going for?

  • Did you hear that eluxury is closing their site...is that true?

  • Definitely a bag with all the subtle luxe elements to be had. Just a thought, tho, doesnt that zip-down-to-bottom detail look familair? a deja vu....wait, wasnt it Longchamp who came up with this idea first?

  • Jimmy Choo has been placing horizontal zippers on some of their bags for a couple of seasons. The zipper allows the bag to be made larger if need be. They all seem to copy each other!!

  • As you know, Ysl is my favorite brand.I am satisfied with their design and the price is reasonable. I have nothing against these bags either, but they don´t give me vibes. And at the moment I don´t need more bags, except the zippered clutch!

  • Love it! As you said, timeless and chic. We are so over the loud statement bags, I am very glad Stefano Pilati took the initiative and created a luxurious bag without compromising on style.

  • Saks' website says both colors/leathers are $1595 now.

  • Uh-ok a purse, nothing shiny,eye-catching or different about it but the brand and its kinda dull and ugly. If it came in more colors, okay. Sometimes a purse should blend with an out- fit and be what I call'an un-noticed accessory'. These are the 'pay little' type purses but $1200? Nope,non,nein,nyet.....

  • Oooh...ahh...

  • It's a nice bag, but it looks a bit too much like the Hermes Massai.

  • Love this bag! I really like the zippers, adds a funky twist to the bag. Adding both of those to my wish list.
