Jil Sander Buckle Tote

Jil Sander does not make bags that scream ‘it’ which is exactly why I want them! Known for simple structure and elegant designs, Jil Sander bags always include a subtle element of surprise. Like the knotted buckle strap here– it looks effortless and just gives it the bit of oomph it needs! The divided interior compartments will be super convenient for work or school and you can fit a laptop in it– always a plus. The pale lavender is very feminine but the patent leather gives it a bit of edge. It will be fabulous with a chocolate brown dress now but in the spring wear it with white, nudes and all the gorgeous floral pieces heading to the stores! Not that this should influence your decision but the Buckle tote has been gracing the arms of Hollywood A-listers like January Allure cover girl Eva Mendes– just thought I’d mention it. $1,645 at Barneys New York.

Love the bag; it’s different without being crazy. You can definitely tell the designer put a lot of thought into coming up with something interesting, yet practical.

  3. Very nice looking bag. I would like to see another color palate.

  4. I so wish it offers a subtle element of surprise. Tina, don’t you think the knotted buckle strap design looks alike to the one on Hermes Kelly Flat? I can’t say if Hermes’s was THE original, but at least Kelly flat was first introduced couple years ago……As a causual tote, you probably won’t be disappointed with this JS bag. It just lacks something that makes you WANT it at first glance. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. Tina, I still owe you the pics of my tricolor alligator kelly, will email you next week ! :)

  5. How funny.

When I got the email from Barneys showing how they had Jil Sander bags, I was like “I know that Tina will write about that”!

I went to check to see if you did, and an article was not there at first, but here it is now.

  6. Love the bag, not the color. What about in a nice brown leather?

  7. I agree with Patti. The color is like putty.

  8. Maybe it’s the photo, but the bag seems a bit sloppy.

Love the bag, not sure of the color tho

  10. I can see this being worn with a trench coat whose belt is also knotted instead of buckled. Very sharp!!!

I really dislike everything about this bag: color is weird, leather is too shiny and the shape is not great neither…

Not good;color ‘yucky’, shape blah and completely the wrong size. Reminds me of a really bad Easter purse my grandma carries…love you Gram!
