We adore Zac Posen and have been disappointed by the lack of drool worthy bags from him in the past few seasons. Luckily for us and for his bag fans; it seems Zac has found his groove (or a new accessories designer) for 2009! The eye popping- attention getting “Carine Lock” bag in bold magenta (Sasha got me using this word and I can’t stop saying it! Try it and see what I mean– “Ma-gen-ta”. Nice huh?) is a simple flap bag at first glance but look closer. The dangling chain ‘lock’ is a delicate version of his signature “nut” hardware. I know it looks complicated but don’t worry about functionality– the lock is merely decorative. Front flap actually opens with magnetic closure. I adore this color (as you may know by now, I chose the magenta YSL platforms!) and the distressed leather makes it casual and funky. I am starting to scare myself, I’ve been obsessed with color of late and fear I will end up looking like a clown come Spring! Zac Posen Carine Lock bag 15″x11″ $1,450 here.

cute color and hardware. clever
did he name this for carine roitfeld because i can’t see her carrying this
Tina- You have spoilt us with so many exotics, that it is hard to like the usual leather ones, unless they have that `something´,which this bag obviously lacks.
But not everyone can afford the price of exotics
I like this, it’s got a youthful feel to it and of course the color is great
And I like the word magenta, too
Haha
I thought it was a Mulberry bag at first! I love the colour and that dangling chain however I am not so keen on the shape-overall it’s a decent bag but I can’t say I am crazy about it!
Hi Tina, You can never look like clown:)..it’s nice to have color, esp this gorgeous magenta (love this name). I went through a color phase in bags when my little girl started on her “pink” phase…now I alternate bw bright colors and my neutrals….it’s nice to have some color in this market economy:)
A fat pocket with a dangling earring, how tasty.
I’ve never been a Zac Posen fan, nor will I ever be.
i thought the same thing about carine. she rather famously never carries bags (prefers large pockets!)
I agree with jacqueline. Zac Posen is not a great designer he has not direction in his clothing. And the bags are not worthy of our money.
Sometimes, the little things count. A handbag, after all, is a utilitarian creation made beautiful because of its utter necessity – a bag that was difficult to carry would be useless to most women. As such, there are only so many design alteration that you can make to a bag, and I often think that making a beautiful bag with minimal design innovations is much more difficult than making a bag that’s art first and useful second. Which is why I love the Prada Cervo Lux Shoulder Bag – because, at it’s heart, it’s just a purse. It’s a tote that would hold everything you need with two straps long enough to toss it over your shoulder. Its magnetic closure is easy to fasten and Prada makes some gimmicky bags, for sure, but I think it’s probably bags like this one that earn them such devoted fans.
