Temperley wants you to bite her

temperleygoldenapplebag.jpgJust for kicks on the last Monday of the year (as much as I am looking forward to the new year, I am always sad to end a chapter in my life) I'd thought we'd poke fun at this ridiculous golden apple bag from Temperley. Now I do own several Temperley dresses and think they're just heavenly but this kitshy little bag is just too annoying to ignore. I'm sure some of you will protest and say this is adorable and you'll wear it with a little black dress, etc etc. But I go nuts when I see bags made to look like anything I'd want to eat. The apple has been blamed for everything from tempting Eve to poisoning Snow White and I'm sure Temperley has deep symbolic meaning behind this bag but I'll be passing on this temptation. If you're into this kinda thing, it's £495.00 ($728.69) at Brown's Fashion.

What do you think? Snob or Slob?

  • Only Browns would stock something like that-they always have quirky stuff-totally not my cup of tea!
Tina, what do you think about this Balenciaga Two-tone crocodile bag?- reduced from £8,770.00 to £4,390.00-would you pay this much for it?xoxo

This is to die! My goodness, purple croc to boot... I've seen the Balenciaga croc bags-- top quality!

It's really not that bad for a crocodile... compared to the ridiculous amount Chanel and Hermes are charging for their crocs. are you going to get it? Keep me posted!!!
    xoxo

  • I would love to get it but I already decided my next bag will be a Birkin! Tina, I think it would suit you perfectly! What would you choose-Balenciaga or Birkin?

Choose the birkin... a purple croc is fun but not as timeless as an Hermes.

Plus if you really look at the bag, it's made of pieces of crocodile, which is why they trim it in leather and can sell at the low price...

BTW-- I recall you didn't like the birkins much before... have we changed your mind?:)

      • yes,I used to think I was too young for a Birkin...but then I thought,if I am to spend a rather large sum of money on a bag I should really buy something classy and make it an investment as well-I will probably choose a young, fun colour, blue perhaps?
I think you've converted me to Birkins Snobs!

There are so many blues to choose from!

Bleu de prusse is a bit dark, Blue Jean is the classic shade, Turquoise is fun, Lagon is a green/blue that I love, and Bleu Roi is a true royal blue :)

Decisions decisions! I am so excited for you! There is nothing like the first birkin. I still get excited when I get birkins and I've been collecting for almost 11 years. I limit myself and pick up only one or two birkins a year...

I know people who run in there and try to scoop up the entire stock like it's a fire sale. The bags have no meaning to them, they don't even know what the leathers are called nor the colors of their bags or how the bags are made!

Each birkin for me is a momentous occasion and I remember the day I brought each home.

Of course I buy other Hermes bags but there is nothing like a birkin :)

          xoxo

          • aww guys you're so sweet-Tina,I am very grateful for all the information you've kindly shared with me, I always loved bags but it wasn't until I came across your blog that I have truly appreciated the craftsmanship, history and the effort that only few brands really put into their products-I thank you for that. Your knowledge is truly amazing. I am so glad I am not one of those girls blinded by logos and sales-and yes,I too know people who couldn't care less about the precious bags they own-I feel terrible seeing women carrying their Birkins while wearing a Juicy Couture tracksuit! Bag needs to be appreciated, loved and treated with respect so why don't make an effort for everything else!
            xoxo

        • OH Lina, One is NEVER too young for a Birkin. Good job on becoming a Birkin Snob!!!! Do share with us when you finally get one, Have you seen the blue de prusse? FABULOUS!!! =)
          GOOD LUCK!!!

  • Birkin!

  • Get the birkin lina!

As for this bag, slob. It looks like a $5 souvenir from NYC

Or Vegas, it's cheap and gaudy like something you'd see in las vegas.

  • Dress it with a white goddess dress. Aphrodite-chic!

  • Ugh, I hate bags shaped like food and or animals. It's cute for my 3yo, but after that, no thank you.

    Lina, get the birkin!

    xoxo

  • I like Temperly dresses but this apple bag, good for my niece who is about 6 year old now.

  • I think it's cool for an editorial shoot with a goddess theme. Paris awarded Venus (goddess of love and beauty) the golden apple with the inscription "to the fairest". I guess that was the reference. That theme would make a good spread in a magazine with the purse as an accessory.

  • totally agree, a photoshoot prop, but not something I would actually WANT to carry lol.

And just to repeat myself, a non-exotic birkin over balenciaga exotic any day!! I love bbags, but a birkin is forever ;)

  • You could use it as a prop for a fancy dress outfit for Eve/Aphrodite/Atalanta, I suppose. Hard to see why else anyone would want it.

There must be better stuff in the sales.

  • I think it looks like a piece of chocolate wrapped in gold foil. Possibly something from Godiva.

    • I'd rather have the Godiva chocolate. Browns has a YSL Majorelle in the sale in camel and red for £505. Worth it?

  • Amusing.
    I like it.

    However.
However I will be subtle in my hopes that Fendi will produce what will resemble a molded watermelon clutch.

Awful. I wouldn't doubt Fendi, who doesn't lack creativity.
