Bag Snob Kelly in Taiwan

skull_closeup.jpgI am on a family trip to Taiwan and thought it would be fun and interesting to throw in a few gems that I find here. I could do the basic Gucci, LV and Chanel which are everly so popular here but how boring would that be? People here line up out the door to the Gucci boutique just to buy the GG canvas bags by the balefuls! Maybe if they start rioting I could get a story =) I was at the new Sogo yesterday, it is the big department store that has boutiques for Hermes, Chanel, Balenciaga, Marni, Mulberry, etc. but none of those caught my eye like this one did. Among all the international designers was this local line, I am embarrassed to say I don't read Chinese so I can't tell you what the brand is, but it is spectacularly wrong. I think it is a pirate skull with a tiara, but look at the earrings - knife and fork?? I am reserving my judgment, I will let you decide what you think of this very interesting bag. The price tag at least is bearable, around $200 USD. But then, you would have to own this bag and what would you do with it?

  • I think the pirate skull is actually pretty cute..lol...but not on a bag...

  • I agree Steph- cute pirate skull, but not on that bag. I might like it better on a different bag, or if it was better placed on that bag.

  • Hi Kelly, I believe the brand is called ANTEPRIMA. It's an Italian brand by a Japanese designer. Pretty popular in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. They are famous for its "wirebags", which I can see a bit in the background. I am not sure about this bag with the pirate skull but I like the wirebags. Check out their website; www.anteprima.com

  • i HATE Anteprima's accessories. Their knits are great, i have a few knit tops from them including the most amazing cashmere red turtleneck tank. Their wirebags and other crap though? NO!!! AWFUL.

  • is it true that in Asia, especially in China, you can get a Birkin straight of the shelf in Hermes boutiques??

  • It looks like a fairy princess owl!

  • it's an owl pirate princess. eating dinner with its earrings. on an ugly brown bag.

  • That skull thingie would be better as a bag charm. Not too hopeless, though.

  • Even my mum would not want this bag! :P

  • The prices of that bag are $2,000 though.
Now, think. Why would someone want these?
    It's not worth it.

  • Maybe cute for someone very young, but $2000 is ridiculous!!

  • Hi T,

    I don't think that's an Anteprima Bag.

  • I was surprised to read this article and found out my favorite blog writer, Kelly, is from Taiwan. I'm in Taipei, Taiwan now, and I read this website everyday. I got to say "You two are amazing!"
