It’s a bone chilling 20 degrees outside and I am huddled over my computer with a big blanket. Don’t ask me why I am awake at 4am. Okay, I’ll tell you– there is a four year old in my bed who kicks me in the head, belly, and/or back all night long; there is a cat who likes to sleep on my head when it’s cold and there is a husband who snores. Most night I don’t mind and sleep quite well (I average 9 hours a night) but it is so cold tonight I can’t seem to get warm, even with an army in my bed. Trust Alexander McQueen to perk up my night (or is it morning?). This amazing shade of green reminds me of Spring and the warm days that will eventually return (it will be 75 this weekend, Texas weather is as moody as me!). Yes the Elvie is not new but it’s become a timeless staple for urbanistas and though I’ve loved it for years, I have yet to own one. Yet. I do like the AMcQ` Melrose tote´ better. The green ( if it has to be a green) is much better on it and so is the shape. This one turns me off.

I had this bag when it first came out in the dark red….I have been very disappointed on how it has worn….certain parts of the patent bag have wrinkled badly and the handles have started to split at the seams and the material inside is peeping out….if I’d have used this bag for months on end it wouldn’t be so bad but I’m very anal about the way I treat my bags!! I still do use it on occassion…it isn’t the most practical of bags when out shopping as it is too bulky for over the shoulder and heavy without anyhting in to be held alday over your arm…..that said I still love it and the green does make me dream of sun and beaches!!

Hi TIna, I have been debating whether to get an Elvie bag for a while, but I’ve always ended up with another Hermes or Chanel bag. I had to write b/c i love your stories re husband and your baby:) I’ve often have my little boy and girl in our bed and they inevitably slept with their head or feet on my stomach:) Among my friends, I’m the only one with that practice b/c I’m Chinese and we grew up like that. My husband, who is not Asia, first did not understand this when my first baby was born, now loves to have the kids with us now:)
As for this green, I’m not loving it but i love the one with the British flag on the Elvie. Ping
I wish I could sleep 9 hours with an army in my bed, but I also have a 4 yr old and she has never slept by me ever…and my husband also snores and half the time I have to sleep on the floor with a fan near my head to drone out the nose, but I am a light sleeper. Its fun to hear how other people do it. Also the two dogs are not allowed near my bed, they sleep in their own in the living room.
I love this shape and almost bought one, but it was so awkward to carry that I knew I would not use it that much.
