A Dry Spell.........

What is going on here!?!? Everything is on sale and I'm sick of looking at old stuff but the new stuff scare me so I don't want to look at them, either. It's enough to make me want to crawl in my bag closet to cuddle my birkins (yes, I have one being built!) and not come out until the dry spell is over! Look at this monstrous Marni bag. Who is it for.. Jabba the Hut? A diaper for a giant? What's with the itsy bitsy tiny handles? I have small hands so I'll at least be able to put two fingers through it but then I'll have to pray my fingers don't break because a 38cmx38cm bag full of stuff probably weighs as much as I do. Or maybe I should put a broomstick through it and carry it across my back like a field worker? I may have Turkey and champagne induced delirium but I'm not so drunk that I can't see this for what it is. A piece of crap, literally. Marni Triangle slouchy hobo $1,795 at Net-a-porter.com

Snob Store Alert! Vera Wang opens boutique in NYC

vwbagssp09.jpgI am so excited about the opening of Vera Wang's boutique today, it's enough to make me want to hop on the next flight to the city and shop to my heart's content!

The space is conceived as a white-box theater, with a double-height proscenium stage at the front, the middle stage down the steps, and the backstage areas toward the rear.

The architecture is designed to not upstage the collection; rather, it is conceived as a subtle, neutral backdrop to the collection, which remains the centerpiece of the space. vwsp092.jpg

As with everything Vera does, I am certain this will be amazing. The 2,500 sq ft boutique will stock all of Vera's fabulous signature ready to wear, Lavender label, fragrance and accessories (I can't wait to get my hands on the bags!!!) Our New York readers should RUN over to 158 Mercer, like, pronto! If you don't live in NYC or are in a turkey induced coma, you can call the boutique to order by phone -- (212) 382-2184

Michael Kors Jeweled Clutch

I hate having to rag on one of my favorite designers but I know he will understand. Afterall, he told me if one can learn to take criticism, one can learn a lot from it. I want you to stare at this clutch for a minute... now close your eyes. Are amoebas crawling around in technicolor? I actually love the multicolored python, it's cheery and perfect for resort but those jewels on there look like bugs and give me goosebumps. They also look like an afterthought, the design team should have left the clutch alone. Sorry Michael, I love you but this isn't doing it for me. The blue tunic, however, has Tina written all over it! Michael Kors Jeweled python clutch at Net-a-porter.com $1,495

Zac Posen Belyn in Lipstick Red

I was kind of iffy about this bag when I saw the picture of it but I saw it in person the other day and I actually really love it. Some bags are really hard to judge in a picture, actually all bags are hard to judge without touching, feeling and wearing it, that is why we spend so much time shopping! The strap detail through the middle funks up this super practical bag. This is an everyday, everywhere bag but with the few studs on the strap and a twist in the leather it becomes a real statement piece. The only thing that's weird is the strap - it doubles over itself so you can pull one piece and make it long but then the bag just looks weird. You would not really use this in any other way but the way it is shown here. It is very comfortable on the body, the cinched center conforms to the body and the soft leather is nice to rest your arms on. I am glad to see Zac simmer down with the hardware, you can still have a stylish bag with simplicity and minimal hardware. And they usually are. This bag is on sale now so it will look even better. Zac Posen Belyn Hobo, Lipstick at eluxury for $1,495, $1047. I love the red but it also comes in Black and Cerulean Blue stamped snakeskin.

I am completely overstimulated. After years of not watching television regularly, I spent the last few hours watching crazy reality shows. I had no idea they were so entertaining! In one night I watched The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Orange County and a re-union presided by Andy Cohen of Bravo. It was like a bad accident, I was annoyed but couldn't look away. I indulged in a few episodes of Rachel Zoe this past season and prefer it over this non-sense. At least Rachel's show is about fashion and I can relate. These women, I do not relate! Anywho, I needed to get back to reality, my reality-- and did some late night shopping on our favorite website. Go check out Bagsnob Sale Picks! Michael Kors "Rehearsal" Bag

mkrehearsalbag.jpg Someone asked for a gray bag the other day and then I saw this simple and unassuming bag from Michael Kors. You want gray? You got gray! But do you really want to go there? I love gray and actually overdosed on it last year which is why this year, I'm all about color. But hey, to each its own and if you insist on gray at least I can guide you to a pretty gray that is elegant and not drab or depressing.

I had this bag on my arm the other day and it's very supple and lightweight. The brushed aluminum hardware adds a bit of brightness to it and of course it's very useful. Who can't use a shoulder tote bag in a neutral tone?  I'm just worried you'll get bored and if you do, there is a metallic python version of the same (now that has me excited!). I guess this bag is named "Rehearsal" because it's a stand in for the metallic python version? Michael Kors Handbags & Accessories at Nordstrom.
