Simon Says, “Bottega Multi-Nero Pebbled Ayers”
By Bag Snob Tina

I really didn’t think there would come a day that I would have to come down on Bottega Veneta and not just in a subtle way either. Seriously, you have to ask yourself when you look at this bag, “WTF??”. It is the Simon Says game from my childhood, I loved that game and was really at it. I actually found an online version of it, you can waste your lunchtime away on this but it is very good for your brain so you can use that as an excuse in case you get caught. Fun aside, it does not make for a good looking bag. I mean, why would it? The round wedge shapes with the vomit fuchsia, green and purple combination makes for the most hideous bag I have ever seen. I wonder if there was some sort of meltdown over in their design studio or maybe there was a chemical spill in their dying vat because these are not the muted, subtle and beautiful Bottega colors we have come to know and love. The question, “Why?” keeps popping in my mind. And to do this in all woven, with so many sections and shapes – the word “busy” does not justly describe this crazy mess and mind jumble. It is also trimmed in ayers snake but we have moved beyond minor details at this point, the biggest meltdown you will experience is in seeing how much this is – $8300!!! No BS, totally serious. This is by far the most nonsensical bag of the year. The question “Why?” is still screaming in my head and will continue to do so for a few days. At Bottega Veneta online.

Once again,I have to agree with you Kelly. I´m totally puzzled. The bag looks big. Not a bag you could even hide,if you accidentally bought it,tried to take it toting with you and then realized why everybody was looking at you.The price is big too.

I guess you could use the center of the bag as a bullseye and you can drop kick it to the curb!!!!!!!!!!!!Or you can use the very center as the “easy button” and when you press it a FABULOUS BAG would appear!!!!!

    wow.

such a shame that someone got a little *extra* creative in the design dept. I have been lusting for SOOOOO many BV bags lately, but at least I can take this one off the list. lol

    2 words: Cosby sweater.

I had the same reaction when seeing that bag on last season’s runway. The clothes were beautiful, but that bag…

That bag is pretty ugly, and so is the price tag. If you want to see some beautiful bags, go to BV on Rodeo Drive. They are having their trunk show today and tomorrow. I ordered another one of their bags…gorgeous. If anyone needs a fabulous SA, ask for Sonia…she is the BEST!!

I started laughing out loud when i saw this. The “why?” – it must be one of those marketing ploys of “just make something ugly and not wearable but enough to be the talking point” strategy so that people talk about it and advertise you for free. This bag is funny…

A swing and a miss, Bottega. A swing and a miss.

Although I can appreciate the intricate detailing of this handbag, the center, as Lisa stated above, looks akin to a bull’s-eye. Perhaps it’s foreshadowing to the comments (be they good, or bad) fired at this bag (although my money is on ‘strange looks’ rather than comments).

Kelly, you are so on TARGET regarding this atrocious bag! BV was a little disappointing for me this season! and for $8300, I rather get something from Hermes or Chanel! Ping

I guess they were aiming to target old, zany rich women with a need to disgust, with money to blow. Awful bag. Awful, awful!

OMG – the pattern reminds me an abandoned bee-hive, or a microscopic picture of dandruff/some other human cell you might find in a biology textbook…
