The Nikki Bag by Rebecca Minkoff- Large 19"x15" $595 Small $575 15"x12"

Celeb favorite Rebecca Minkoff gives our young Bag Snobs another rockin' and rollin' (and tres affordable!) tote bag for Spring 2009. I previewed the Spring '09 collection two weeks ago in NYC and found the line to be well constructed and of good quality for this price point (mostly under $600). Trust me, I looked at every zipper and each single seam; even turning the bags inside out to inspect the interior and have to admit that this is one of few bag designers who hits the mark at the highly in demand under $500 price point. I don't own a Rebecca Minkoff but the Nikki tote above (in 8 delicious colors for spring - chocolate, mint, cream, cranberry, black, periwinkle, nautical blue and tangerine-- and two sizes) may just be my first. An easy carry all with minimal hardware and supple leather, it's a grab and go when I'm running around with my son (who just turned 4 this weekend! He asked right before bed "So I'll be 4 when I wake up?" And this morning asked me hopefully "Am I 5 yet?" So eager to grow up!!!)

If you can't wait for Spring, in Fall colors are in full bloom at Shopbop.com

  • Tina, is that first Nikki bag you pictured mint? I haven't settled on a RM bag yet, because I just couldn't pick a color, but her leather is amazing and the price is astounding. I was looking for a loose seam too because I couldn't believe the bang for the buck. I would love a mint or periwinkle though. I think I can wait till spring. Thanks for the info, I have something to look forward to :)

  • I know that it was directed at Tina, but I can confirm that the first Nikki bag is Mint. :)

I'm a big Minkette and I'm so glad that RM is being featured on Bag Snob. I remember the days when she was mentioned on BG for the bags she designed for Anthropologie and I'm happy that she's gotten so much success.

The Nikki is definitely Snob-worthy. You can hold a lot in the bag without looking too bulky and the leather is TDF once the leather is broken in.

I would love to have the Mint or Cranberry Nikki myself. :)

  • I love RM bags and am so glad you FINALLY gave your review!
Love the spring colors thank you!!

  • Great bags. the left one in the first pic looks like the bag of my best friend. great stuff

  • *swoon*

  • I think I would get a mint steady or MAB instead. I love the nikki, but I have way too many big bags lol.

  • I first wanna give a shout out to the BIG C...
    HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY!!!! =)

I don't own a RM, but loving the spring colors, I'm thinking this will be my first buy from her...

  • The colors on these bags are really cute!
Hey, I have an un-related question for you. I seem to recall a post that you did a while ago (maybe a year ago?) featuring reasonably priced leather bags that featured a big leather-covered button on the front - kind of a whimsical Audrey Hepburn kind of look. I was thinking Mulberry, but now I don't think that is right. Do you know the brand I am talking about? Thank you in advance. :)

  • I have a couple of RMs and even though I have a large collection of bags, my RMs get alot of use. The color selection is fantastic and the leathers are so soft and smooshy. I highly recommend these bags.

  • The cranberry shade is luscious. I want.

  • I love RM.
Maybe the answer is obvious, but which came first: The (Coach) Carly or the (RM) Nikki? Because they're almost virtually identical. I'd still rather buy from independent like RM, but I'm curious.

  • Kaytey have you seen Coach's Prada Stripes from last spring they knocked off? They are on their website now. None of these designers are reinventing the wheel here, it all depends on what you like. I wouldn't worry about it, because a lot of these bags start to look alike after you seen a couple 1,000 or so. :)

  • HI Everyone!
I'm so glad you all like the Nikki-- Rebecca Minkoff is really a talent.

I have not been online all day-- can you believe? I actually survived :)

I will try and answer all your questions later!

  • tina, happy birthday to your son! love your cute stories and can totally relate since i have three little ones of my own:) that is something my son has said too!
