Marni Blue Alpaca Fur
By Bag Snob Kelly

I’m sorry, did I say Marni could do no wrong? Apparently it is time for me to eat my words (or my computer). I have no idea what is behind this cookie monster madness of blue fur; creative expression is one thing but this is totally bizarre! Consuelo Castiglioni is known for her quirky funky style but this time she (or her accessories designer) has completely gone off the deep blue end. Check out the details for yourself $2,065 at Brown’s fashion.

Tell me what you think (because if any of you finds this appealing, I’m curious to know why!)– Snob or Slob?

What I don´t understand is why the plastic handles while there is real fur and leather? I don´t like this one.

I think it’s fun without being too juvenile–it looks very tactile, unlike other fur bags, and the shade of blue is a lovely contrast with the brown. Who doesn’t want to sometimes glance down at an item they’re wearing/carrying and smile at its sweet craziness? It’s a reminder not to take it all too seriously. Keep the outfit simple and that bag would be great.

It might be fine for a teenie bopper but for mature adults, I thinks it a bit tacky.

Is it a toilet seat cover? If so, I would prefer burnt orange

    or avocado green.

I adore it. It’s fun and quirky but with the right outfit still very chic. Only the eccentric do apply though, obviously.

After you posted i called the NYC Marni boutique and asked if it came in any other colours and they said they have it in a gray with a yellowish lucite handle. The SA also said the price was $2500 so quite the mark up compared to Browns, unfortunately.

I’ll definitely be thinking it over.

I love the Cookie Monster image at the bottom of that post! Hilarious!! Well, for those of you who celebrate Halloween, you could go as Cookie Monster’s girlfriend. This bag would be perfect for that outfit!

Marni – you failed me again. Boo hiss!

it’s more like cookie monster’s killer. They practically skinned him alive to get that gorgeous blue fur!

despite that…I kinda like it lol! 2500 bucks like it? eh, no. but it IS fun.

Well, I think we sold purses like that in the children’s department of the JC Penney I worked at in college. That being said, I loved them. They were really soft. And even though that bag doesn’t really look like it cost as much as it did, I don’t hate it.

I feel terrible about the alpaca that has gone into this bag. I’m not sure about the manufacturing process of the bag, whether it involves killing alpacas, but the entire creation is pretentious to the point of nausea. And at the tune of two thousand dollars? Who are they kidding? More and more, I’m beginning to believe that designers overcharge, but take consumers on a ride. It’s not like they’re creating anti-matter. It’s a bag made from alpaca wool ffs.
