As I prepare for the Emmy Awards on Sunday (yes, I am going!!), I was invited to cover the Emmy House, you know where celebrities get free swag and manicures before the big event. I was really excited about this, I thought it would be full of fabulous things and although I had no intention of taking any of the swag for myself, I was lead to believe that I would be covering celebrities getting good swag. I did not see any celebrities, at least none that I recognized. There was plenty of swag but nothing like the Oscars and Sundance where Chanel sunglasses and Rebecca Minkoff bags flowed, as if from a fountain. The event takes place in a really cool house in the Hollywood Hills (can't say where exactly because it is still going on today). Once you walk in, every square foot of the house, including bathrooms had sponsors' tables and setups.

There were denim designers, T3 products, t-shirts, DVDs from 20th Century Fox, Dove chocolate, various alcohols and beverages, beaded jewelry, loads of bath gels and beauty products, a shoe line, some electronics and Turkish towels. Yes, totally random. I was told to take stuff for a giveaway bag so I did. The following is a list of what I have:

This is a small sample of what it would be like to go to a swag house. I wasn't very aggressive about getting the swag because I am not used to just going up to people and asking for stuff. I did also get jeans but they are in my size so unless you are a 29, I am going to keep it!! I also got some pomegranate drink but I got thirsty on my drive home so I drank it.

I would go with the Prada Lace Bag from FW08 because the lacy detail on the sleeves would be so perfectly accented by that bag or an Hermès Kelly Money Holder (the long wallet looking one) in any color.

Pearls. I love pearls with a black dress. I know, I'm an old woman in a 20-yar-old's body, but seriously. Especially with the old-world glam of this look, something glitzy like a diamond would seem out of place. Long strings of pink or natural pearls would be lovely, imho. You would look GREAT with the Zagliani Metallic Python Clutch in silver. The edgy clutch will add a nice contrast to the soft flow of the feminine DVF dress. OR you can go with the gunmetal color to keep it dark and sexy!

i think you should go with the Tod's Lizard Clutch in purple or the Bottega Veneta Struzzo Clutch in purple ostrich. Both will add a pop of color to your black gown and you will stand out in a crowd with both of these gorgeous clutches. Also, i know you are a fan of both Tod's and Bottega, you love purple and love exotics!

I am a size 29... and being a big b&w fan, I would definitely go with the Christian Louboutin Elsa Clutch. I think it would provide just the right amount of contrast with your black DVF dress. Have fun!

This dress would look great with a number of clutches but I would say one of these choices. I know it's long, but it's fun thinking of what would look good on the red carpet =):
1) Intrecciato silk knot in either dawn, ash, or horizon by Bottega Venetta- [for a simple, classic, and sophisticated look. I know you've said you're low-maintenance so I think this would be *perfect*!]
2) Exotics- Croc or python clutch by either Nancy Gonzalez or Carlos Falchi, in a bold color like red or purple, or sexy like copper.
3) Anya Hindmarch Piano python clutch
4) VBH oval compact clutch
5) Or... if all else fails...simply Chanel. =)

Chocolate diamonds! I think chocolate diamonds are the perfect thing to go with this dress (which is OMG gorgeous)! I considered black, but I think that the chocolate would make you in that gown stand out more.

I would pick Darby Scott's Black Satin Slim Clutch in satine which features a smooth cabochon turquoise toplock. The turquoise is GORGEOUS and would be just the perfect surprise of color against that DVF dress. Everyone would want to know what you are carrying. :)
