Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2009 - Rock Goddess

I know this is coming from a Diane von Furstenberg groupie but I believe I am being objective when I say that this collection was everything I've ever dreamed of. I can pretty much just order everything in my size and call it a day. As DVF put it herself, this collection is "an homage to Diana Vreeland who taught us we could be goddesses and rock stars". And she herself is proof that you can because obviously she is both those things. The look was very carefree, innocent and sweet. And as with all DVF collections, always confident. The look reminds me of Kate Hudson's Penny Lane character in Almost Famous, totally 60's, a bit rebellious but feminine. I loved everything but the two looks that wowed us and had me and Tina hitting each other in excitement during the show were the black plisse wrap dress with the layers of ruffled pleats and the spice purple plisse gown. They are elegant but easy, just the way I like it. You will definitely be seeing us with these dresses as soon as we can get our hands on them, we are contacting the appropriate people about that today!

And of course the prints never disappoint but this season, it was like they were made for me! The black on white ground print of the season is stylized butterflies done in a mini kaftan. Hello, if I could have everything I wanted on a dress, this would be it. There were also a lot of sequins, beading and embroideries that are gorgeous and glamorous. There is this gold sequin blouson blazer that was paired with a print dress, you can't see it very well on the picture but this blazer is disco meets cardigan, if there ever was such a thing. Over jeans, over hot dress, over trousers, I will wear this forever!

I have to take my groupie hat off for a minute and be the critic here. There were some fabulous clutches shown, like the gold embellished one that I would use, and of course the ingenious wrap bag updated in hot pink patent. There were a lot of big bags, which she loves (she told us bags are like our little suitcases!), and the giant knitted hobo is the perfect companion on the beach in Capri.

The hair was curled and wind blown, by Orlando Pita. The makeup - soft smokey eyes, more blush than usual for a runway show and very nude nude lips, by Gucci Westman.

Some of the front row attendees that were there: Jennifer Lopez, Nina Garcia, Anderson Cooper, Rosario Dawson, Tim Gunn, Eva Longoria Parker and of course Anna Wintour (and if you must know, second row attendees included Sasha Charnin Morrison, Andre Leon Talley, Bag Snob Tina and Bag Snob Kelly!).

  • OMG Kelly, you and Tina sat second row? How exciting! Go snobs!
I always see Andre seated behind Anna in second row, he's like this giant behind her.

  • Second row means you and Tina have arrived. So close you can almost touch the clothes, what a dream!

  • Ladies, maybe we will see you front row some time soon>? Look forward to it!

  • Wow, gorgeous collection. I want all of the clothes.

P.S. Did Jlos boots look as big on pics in real life are they the new YSl boots?!

  • I like the black and white butterfly dress. It's adorable! Some of the other prints are a little 'out there' for my taste.

  • Great coverage girls! The AW collection had my heart beat a skip as well. Maybe its me, but Eva Longoria looks very pregnant...
