As promised, here are some of the bags seen at the Emmy Awards. I am glad to see that they aren’t run of the mill – it looks as though celebs decided to show their independent style in their bags rather than in their gowns. Maybe there was a compromise with their stylists and publicists?

DVF Olivier dress and Romanek Yvette feather clutch
Even I opted for the statement bag and kept the dress simple (I wore this DVF dress). Not knowing the popularity of Romanek at the Emmy’s, it seems like I was on the cutting edge with this Yvette feather trim clutch!! It is way out there and a total editorial piece, completely impractical for everyday life, which is why I chose it! It doubled as a fan, which came in handy during arrivals (the show started at 5pm which meant we were outside in the hot sun at 3pm).

Nicollette Sheridan with the purple/gunmetal Kotur minaudiere and her friend in the black on the far left has the Durga Stingray roll clutch
Nicollette Sheridan had on this amazing Angel Sanchez purple gown, totally fabulous (with Avakian jewels) and she pared it down with a purple/gunmetal KOTUR minaudiere. But by pared down I only mean in size because look at this thing, it is super flashy with the same purple details of her gown. I don’t recognize the girl on the left is but I do recognize the clutch at the Durga stringray roll clutch. This has been seen on everyone and as you know, we are currently giving away the ostrich clutch for our 3rd Birthday Giveaway.

America Ferrera with Anya Hindmarch Maud clutch in gold
America stayed classic and youthful with the Maud clutch. I think it’s time for her to strike out with some big style and throw caution to the wind. She does not need to stay so safe to avoid the “Ugly” label!

Maggie Siff from Mad Men (if you do not watch this, set it up on your Tivo or DVR immediately!), has the black Romanek Celeste. She had on a classic strapless that needed some oomph and the feather clutch was just the thing to do it. I know, nobody knows who she is, honestly, I watch the show and am confused as to who she is but the point is, she knows how to pick a bag and that’s why she is featured here! The real reason really is, I was choosing between this or the Yvette, that I went with, so I like that we were on the same wave length =)

Sandra Oh was seen with the denim “Lizzy” (because it is lizard) from Romanek to the Emmy Nominee Reception on Friday, September 19th. I have this clutch in midnight and is the best go-to clutch for all ocassions. As you can see, it can easily switch gears from day to night. Her publicists say she is using the black Lizzy at the actual Emmy’s but from the pictures I’ve seen, it does not look like it. You can take a look at our red carpet coverage on Couture Snob to see for youself. I just don’t see her as a one trick pony.

That is Sarah Paulson on the left. She was in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
Hi Kelly, can you tell me how you care for a feather clutch? i would think that the perspriation from your palm might rough up the feathers…? also how do you store it? thanks!
It is very hard to care for the feather clutch. First of all, storing it is an issue because obviously it cannot be smashed. The feathers come off during use so you have to be very careful when you’re out with it. There is nothing you can do about the feathers getting mangled and dirty, you just have to avoid grease and oils at all costs. I imagine you can clean them individually with water but I fear it would damage them. I guess that’s why the term “Don’t ruffle the feathers!”. Haaa haaa. I’ll ask Brigette Romanek and see what she says.
LOVE the feather clutch (both yours and Maggie Siff’s) and love Sandra Oh’s clutch as well. Gorgeous..
who won the Emmy swag bag give away? =)
Kelly, thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my comment. i appreciate the info and its nice to know you all actually read and take the time to respond to what your readers have to say. that is exactly why Bag Snob remains my number one go to resource for all the is tres chic!
Sorry, the Yvette feather clutch looks to me like it was inspired by the sight of someone smuggling a chicken out of the county fair. LOVING the Kotur and Lizzy, though!!! If it’s possible to scream “understated class”, they’re doing it!
