Ports 1961 Wood "Oyster" Clutch

No need to go exclusively plastic being a vegan fashionista, this Ports 1961 hickory clutch is certainly a more stylish alternative.  It is in the shape of an oyster, how is that for sexy?  I really can't imagine a plastic or nylon clutch being anywhere near acceptable (I suppose satin is ok) but even if you love animals when they're dead, this novelty piece can be a good segue to turn a conversation about saving gas and being green to fashion.   Tia Cibani always uses different types of wood each season for her bags.  This one was bought by MoMA for their holiday catalogue.  We will have to wait until then but seeing how time flies, it will be no time before we are decorating with tinsel.  The Ports wood bags are a favorite among celebs, I wouldn't be surprised to see this grace the hands of Natalie Portman.

  • I'm in L-O-V-E! It does not fit my "style" at all...but I am unnaturally attracted to it. Cannot wait to get the price point on this pretty!

  • it's very unique. great wearable art.

  • There is something frightening about the color and shape of it.

  • looks like nuts should be inside.

  • LOL Morgan!!

I can't imagine anyone carrying something that looks like it belongs on a coffee table.

  • These comments are killing me!! LOL. Strange...I am attracted to this clutch and I don't even own any!! Gasp!

  • LOVE

  • i.. think i love it? lol. i am a total sucker for anything that uses unconventional materials, especially wood, but for some reason i feel like this needs something to distinguish it as a clutch, so people aren't all "uh, nice rice bowl/glasses case/mini eames chair (although, omg- mini eames chair!!)" i think a thin metal inset at the top would do the trick.

okay and i just remembered this, though it may be totally creepy and mean i check bagsnob and design within reach too much.... but tina, i had a dream that you lived in my town and i had to babysit for you, and you had like a dozen eames chairs upholstered in hermes leather!! green like your lindy and light blue. i was ridiculously jealous! hahaha.

  • LOL, how did you know that I actually have photos of Hermes chairs from the hermes boutiques??? Funny! It was light blue! I must post that photo- this must have been a psychic dream on your part!

  • Yet another object to decor your home! I´ll have to start selecting how many of these I really want.

  • i liked it at first but the more i look at it, the more it seems like a eyeglass case to me

  • i work accross from Ports' flagship store in HK... their stuff often intrigue me. The quality is always amazing and a lot of tribal/asian influences but the clothing styles are very western. I've not bought anything from them yet, such a shame considering i find their dresses to be very pretty...

  • Looks more like a mussel than an oyster to me, however both are quite yummy. Interesting clutch from a very stylish house.

  • Love it - wonderful! Minimalism done so right!
