WINNER! Oscar de la Renta "Goya" Bag

UPDATE: Congratulations to Liza from New York City-- she is the winner of our Goya bag contest! Oscar loved her poetic response to the contest: It was winter. I was a new mother: pale, puffy and filled with self-doubt. Then, the simplest dress: short-sleeved; crew-necked; soft wool; berry red. It was a miracle of structure and forgiveness. In it, I was faultless (at least for a moment). I was also in love.

Oscar also chose 5 finalists who get to ask him a question, Susan, Brenda, Tamara, Alle, Erika--please check your emails! We will need the questions by Monday, August 11th in order to qualify!

  • The first time I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta was when I saw his profile on Bag Snob. I had always thought of him as a designer for the older set but realized his clothes are quite chic and fun! Please pick me Mr. de la Renta!

  • I fell in love with Oscar on Sex and the City and seeing that magenta dress on Carrie Bradshaw. The show was probably my first foray into wearable art. That dress was such an impeccable blend of classic glamour and modern whimsy! If only you were giving it away, Oscar!

  • I am not sure how I happened on your website; however both of you (Tina and Kelly) have a great sense of humor. After you described Mr. De la Renta's fashion style from clothing to his handbags, I became interested. I first fell in love with his design in this Goya handbag. It is simple yet elegant. Now I know why the SA in Bal Harbor did not understand my request for this handbag, it had not been released! I do not know Mr. De la Renta personally, however, he appears to be a gentlemen, which I admire. And because of this fine trait, I would consider purchasing one of his very extravagant handbags (you girls have a subtle way of talking us into such spending)!
    Thank you.

  • My mother went to school for fashion design in the mid 1970's. One afternoon I was looking through some of her patterns and designs - I came across a binder full of Oscar de la Renta clips and spreads. Yeah, he had my 17 year old self at the sequins. Those designs? They still work for today. Timeless.

    Hi Oscar!

  • When I was 13 years old, my mom gave me the Oscar De La Renta Barbie. I spent hours mesmerized at how sophisticated this doll was. I imagined the time when I would be able to look like this doll of perfection. At 23, the time hasn’t come but when it does, I know Oscar will be there to show me the way.

  • This Goya bag is actually what caused me to fall in love with Oscar de la Renta (and the world of handbags). The first time I visited this website happened to be when Tina featured this bag; its sleek, chic lines and texture captivated me.

  • I haven't actually fallen in love with Mr. de la Renta--I just wanted to comment on how cool this giveaway was 0_o what a bag!

  • I was in Saks Fifth Ave, when I saw an effortlessly chic young woman carrying an amazing clutch. I was so captivated by it that I stopped her to ask about it. She didn't speak English, but through vigorous pointing and hand gestures, I managed to get "Oscar De La Renta" out of what she was saying. I later found out that it was the Doheny clutch. I've been trying to save up for one of the ODLR bags.

  • Hi everyone, love your enthusiasm but please-- keep it under 50 words!

If you do not see your entry, please re-submit 50 words or less.

    Thank you!

  • I think that Oscar de la Renta's creations, both ready to wear and accessories can be categorized as works of art. Ever since my first Oscar purchase about 5 years ago, I've been in a constant state of love with Oscar. Such elegance and attention to detail. Te Amo Oscar!!!

  • Back in the 1970's, Vogue ran an article about Mr.De La Renta and his beautiful home in the islands. As a logger's daughter in a small town in Oregon, I could only dream of such a life. I fell in love with the idea of simplicity and taste that seemed to live in the life of the mind; style that didn't require money, just an education of the eye to appreciate beauty. I would love to own such a beautiful bag.

  • I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta like so many young girls by reading Vogue. It was a fantasy to see all his beautiful designs and dream of wearing one someday. i have kept up with his collections vicariously and although I do not have the financial means to be outfitted in O, I still have my fantasies and love his art.

  • Being a handbag whore, I'm aware of the quality master-pieces Oscar de la Renta creates. In Cabo, I ran into a woman carrying this magnificent bag made by Oscar. It was stunning and has been on my mind since. You can't find perfection like that just anywhere.

  • I know I'm going to sound like such a dork, but what is and SA??? I've been dying to know for a while, and I'm sure someone here can tell me! :-(

    Hi,
    It means Sales Associate

  • For me it was his perfume. I always wore his namesake perfume in high school back in the mid-80's until I discovered his follow-up scent, Ruffles in college. To this day, it remains my all time favorite even though it has been discontinued. Please Mr. de la Renta, bring back Ruffles!

  • I think I just always knew Oscar de la Renta's name, but fell in love with his dress along with Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. More recently, I really loved Jenna Bush's wedding dress. It is such a elegant dress with perfect lines.

  • Although I’m not a US resident (how unfair, given this is about Oscar!), I wanted to say that while growing up in Singapore didn’t necessarily give much access to luxury or aesthetic fashion, I associate Oscar’s clothes and clientele with a sophistication that comes from combining a public image with a private identity. I love the tactile nature of his fabrics and design- its controlled contrasts are a metaphor for the diversity and self-assuredness of modern women in their ethnicity, social responsibility, relationship with nature, children and ambition. To me, Oscar’s work is a celebration of being timeless, being a lady who feels like a princess. The singular piece that I consider ‘a statement’ is the bright canary yellow dress with the full skirt and hem of black flowers. I’ve had the runway photo of it on my board for years!

  • I am a woman from a small town in Wyoming. Just the name Oscar de la Renta represents almost the same thing as the city of New York. They say about New York that if you can make it there you can make it anywhere. If you are carrying an Oscar bag in Wyoming then it means that you have truly made it. Thank you so much for the dream!

  • Hi Tina and Kelly, didn't read your comment till later- the abbrieved version below is shorter!

I’m not a US resident (how unfair, neither was Oscar till 1971!), but I loved his bright yellow dress with the hem of black flowers. His clothes and clientele represent the sophistication of public image with private identity. Oscar’s tactile designs and controlled contrasts are a metaphor for the self-assured ethnic, social and ambition diversities of modern women.

  • The first time I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta is during the episode of Sex and the City ("The Ick Factor") where SJP told her Russian boyfriend that the description of the "sleeveless silk full-skirted dress with black patent leather bow belt" was pure poetry. The scenes where SJP swoons and later dances with Aleksandr in McDonald's made the dress (and Mr. De La Renta) permanently etched in my memory...!

  • Hi, I am not entering the contest, but I have to say that this is indeed an incredible prize.

    The bag is beautiful indeed.

Do you have this bag Tina?
You seem to have everything. How fabulous.

    Lots of envy,

    Britt.

  • Hi Britt,
I do not have this bag... yet. It will not be delivered to the stores until the end of July.

This is the first time in three years that I have wished I was not the Bag Snob so I could enter to win. I know I could come up with something so compelling that Oscar won't refuse me :)

But since it's my contest, I can't enter. Sad!!!

    xoxo

  • The moment I fell in love with Oscar De La Renta was the evening Penelope Cruz stepped on the red carpet at the 2005 Academy Awards. Dressed in her luxurious buttery yellow gown with the beautiful bow on the back, she was pure perfection! That was the night she became a star!

  • I bought my first piece in a consignment store when I was seventeen: a mens blazer. I could barely tell Prada from Pucci, but Oscar fascinated me. Consequently, my love of fashion started with that blazer – I fell in love with Oscar, and then I fell in love with clothes.

  • It was the first time when I passed by Oscar de la Renta's boutique at Wynn hotel in Vegas that attracted me so. Even though I was only 17 during that december, those dresses on the window amazed me so much that I literally stood there looking at one particular dress. It was a simple black gown. But it had frills on the lower parts, and side pockets. I know I can only daydream because i can never afford such couture dresses. I am just glad that I can tell this directly to Monsieur Oscar de la Renta, and that is good enough for me :)

  • Are you sure non Us residnets can't enter....we always seem to miss out on some great giveaways!! How generous of Mr de la Renta!

    L.x

  • As I eagerly browsed the fall 2005 collections when I was 15, I was disappointed that I had not found a collection with a striking, passionate identity. Then, I found Oscar’s collection, and in my mind the models were gliding down the runway like autumn nymphs, fully embodying what it meant to be a woman in touch with all of her senses. Since then, I feel the same; Oscar designs his clothes for women to really feel, to understand herself and the world around her, and I’m in love to this day!

  • I fell in LOVE with the GREAT iconic of all time ODLR in 2001 when SJP wore that shimmering champagne gown-it just simply took my breath away....ever since then I LOVE everything Oscar!!

    Thanks, Mr.ODLR for being YOU!!!

    B. =)

  • Dear Mr. Oscar de la Renta

As an inspired new coming designer from Parsons (nearly graduated!), my sister and I have created our company named AIRA from studying several designers, and you were one of the main inspirational designers that we look at. Your attention to details, prints, and embroidery is such a magnificent addition to your sense of style. The combination of colors and prints never fail to link your collection into a piece of art. It's so fascinating to see your collections every season because they are so inspirational and a great outlook for us while we struggle in the fashion world. I fell in love with your style based solely on the fact that you express human personalities, characters, and emotions so vividly through your designs, colors, and collection. There isn't any other designers out there that can create such fabulous pieces and still pull it off.
Please pick me to carry your fabulous bag, as I would definitely take it as a gift from a great legendary designer whom I continue to study and love!
    Thanks.

  • When I was ten, my mother wore an Oscar dress to a gala. She put it on, and in that moment, she became much more than my mom. She looked beautiful, and the dress captured her spirit. It was the perfect dress for the perfect moment.

  • Goya bag is a beautiful on design and capacious! On the one hand it can seem, that bag is small, but on the other hand it is bright and attractive. Welcome in my wardrobe! :-)

  • My first experience with Oscar de la Renta was a life-changing, love-at-first sight gift I recieved from my mother for my bat mitzvah. She decided it was time I matured into a woman in more than one respect, and bestowed upon me a beautiful carry-on bag for travel. Even as a 12-year old, I understood the beauty and tastefulness of the piece and tried to imitate my mother in how I held it and cared for it. As with many of Oscar's instant classics, the bag is every bit as beautiful now as it was then. It is timeless, somehow being both cutting-edge while remaining clear of the overly-trendy or overly commercial. I hope to grow my collection and one day pass on the tradition and the stunning pieces as my mother has with me.

  • 1986 when I was first old enough to realize that fashion was more than lots of mascara and wearing short skirts.

  • i fell in love with ODLR while flipping thru the endless pages of Vogue on my twin bed with my best girls in Indianapolis when I was no more then 12 or 13. dreaming of one day wearing them in a fashion show. Of course we never grew legs up to our ears, so that would never happen!

  • The first time I fell in love with this Oscar de la Renta product was when I was only 3 years old! My father used Oscar de la Renta pour Lui everyday before he left for work and I always wanted some sprayed on me too! It's a classic mens fragrance and whenever I smell it, it reminds me of my father.

    Thanks!

  • This may sound nutty, but I first loved Oscar de la Renta because of the elegant name. It just screams high fashion.

  • I first fell in love with Oscar de la Renta designs while watching the Academy Awards show. They always announced the designers that created the stars outfits and Oscar de la Renta designs were always the most elegant.

  • I can't remember the exact date, but it was in the 70's. I fell in love with the bags way back then when my mother was carrying them. I vowed that I would have one too, and now I have two of them. I can't wait to win this contest.

  • I first fell in love with it through my grandma as a child. She always used to wear Oscar de la Renta, and so it reminds me of her from when she was alive.

  • wow, I cannot remember that far back, truly..but watching the oscars with all his beautiful dresses and reading the fashion magazines...oh seriously..and they did a specialon him with all his homes...wow, taaste and elegance

  • I fell for Oscar back in the eighties when I realized that my jeans options didn't have to be just levis or wrangler anymore.

  • It was the fabrics. I was 13 and at Neiman Marcus. I was browsing and I happened upon the most beautiful collection of fabrics I've ever seen, brightly colored silks, soft wool... It was like I'd fallen into a fairytale. Ten years later, I'm still in love.

  • Count me in as one of those who mulled, starry-eyed, over every magazine splash of Oscar de la Renta's fashions draped over the bodies of beautiful starlets, models, et al. I finally had an opportunity to wear one of his designs to a black tie award ceremony when I was 32. I felt like a princess, a glamorous celebrity...I felt that I could dance all night.

Still have the dress...maybe I should get it framed!

  • I think when I discovered some of his 70's evening gowns/ cocktail dresses on ebay, so drool worthy!

  • I fell in love with Oscar when I saw him at The Hudson's Bay Company flagship store in Toronto, Ontario, Canada back around 1983 or 1985 ... I worked at the store at that time. As a person, he's wonderful and gracious. As a designer - spectacular. What woman could resist a man like this?

  • At 9 years old, I discovered my mother’s Vogue. I'd put on her lipstick, heels, and sit at her vanity feeling very lady-like. I’d comb through it for my new found love, Oscar; I was spell-bound by the colors, fabrics, and how his clothes made beautiful models somehow more beautiful!

  • It was winter. I was a new mother: pale, puffy and filled with self-doubt. Then, the simplest dress: short-sleeved; crew-necked; soft wool; berry red. It was a miracle of structure and forgiveness. In it, I was faultless (at least for a moment). I was also in love.

  • When I was trying on dresses at Macys, looking for something for the 8th grade dance, and I knew that my mother could never afford the beautiful Oscar red dress I longed for.

  • i didn't yet. i want to win it for my daguhter-in-law. she's the best and she loves bags.

  • I am a guy. I don't know anything about the bags. I hope that I win this bag for my wife. She would be eternally greatful.

  • My friend gave me her old one, long time ago, and since then I really love his bags.

  • I hate to show my ignorance, but the photo about is the first Oscar De La Renta bag I have ever seen, and I love it!

  • A few years ago – obsessed with all things Sex and the City – I bought a Carrie-inspired Oscar de la Renta robe. It makes me feel beautiful and is probably my most worn item – and no one even sees it! I fell in love the first time I put it on.

  • I fell in LOVE the first time I actually got to feel one. It's so smooth.
Thanks for all the great contests!

  • To be perfectly honest, I didn't know who Oscar de la Renta was, but I did research him and I think he is a wonderful designer. I love this give-a-way, I love hadbags and if I could win this one, I would be ecstatic. It would mean so much to me :) Thanks for this AMAZING oppuritunity!

  • I first fell in love with him when a salesgirl in Dayton's sprayed me with his lovely perfume.............way back when!

  • In 2003 I was about to graduate high school and I had no idea what career path I wanted to pursue. I had always had a love of fashion but not being artistically inclined I wasn't sure what avenues I could explore. I remember watching Access Hollywood one May evening for their coverage of the CFDA awards and I was dying to see what Sarah Jessica Parker, my fashion muse would be wearing. She came down the red carpet in the most elegant pale peach gown I had ever seen. I instantly fell in love with the color, the cut, the fabric, and most importantly with the way Sarah Jessica Parker carried herself wearing that beautiful dress. Upon discovering it was Oscar de la Renta, I began to furiously study his work, and fell in love with each piece a little more than the one before, including the beautiful dress that became the focal point of one Sex and the City episode. It was this moment alone that inspired me to apply to FIT, so thank-you Mr. de la Renta. When I first saw the Goya bag I literally gasped as I believe it is the most stunningly beautiful bag I have ever laid eyes on, and I would be so honored to even be in the presence of it, let alone own one.

  • Wow - that bag would go perfect with my rhino sak! Will you please be ever so kind as to enter me into the drawing?

  • My mother and I both worked at bloomingdale's during the 80s so that pretty much explains that. I love going to the Olympus website during NYC Fashion Week and seeing Oscar De La Renta's show. It's is always my favorite.

  • When he criticized Marc Jacobs for being unoriginal! Now that's a man who's not afraid of speaking his mind (and designing gorgeous clothes).

  • I was 14 years old and had the lead role in the school play - Antic Spring. My director thought a floral scarf tied jauntily around my neck would be the perfect addition to my "costume". When she handed over her floral Oscar de La Renta I nearly passed out!

  • I fell in love with Oscar many years ago when I was first old enough to appreciate fashion. He continues to be a fashion icon and I really love his style. I am all about shoes, handbags & jewerly.

  • In the '90's my sister got married I was breathless over her fancy Oscar gown. That year, my aunt gave me Oscar de la Renta Eau de toilette for my birthday and I have loved and worn the classy scent ever since.

  • When I saw his black jeweled box clutch. From the leather trim to the placement of the jewels and the subtle signature on the closure, this bag was crafted out of precision and careful planning. I greatly appreciate Oscar's impeccable eye for details and organization, which sets him apart.

  • As a Latina, it was love at first site with Oscar when I saw a magazine spread of him at his home in the Dominican Republic. It was really inspiring to see a successful person who didn't forget his roots. The clothes, shoes and fantabulous bags are icing on the cake! Gracias por la belleza!

  • I first learned about Mr. de la Renta's designs when I started to become an avid Sex and the City watcher. But when I fell in love with his designs? September 2004, when Sarah Jessica Parker wore this beautiful fuscia gown. From then on I have been tracking his beautiful and women-friendly designs. I just wish I had enough money to get a little piece of this wonderful designer.

  • When I was eight years old, I opened up my first Vogue magazine and there I found Oscar de la Renta -- gorgeous, sleek gowns that epitomized glamour and all that I hoped to become as a grown-up. I may not be quite there yet but this stunning bag would certainly make me feel as if I were.

  • First time was when I saw the picture of one on your site and heard I could win one for my wife. Thanks for the contest.

  • I was 22, working in sales and my boss had an Oscar de la Renta. I searched for knock offs just so I could be like her.

  • I had just begun painting when I stumbled upon a French Vogue (lucky me). I was enthralled with de la Renta's designs. His use of fabric, texture, and color to create an entire item was brilliant. I could see how he sees colors like a painter. Painters see colors and textures in unexpected hues and depths. He sees the colors that most people miss and combines them into works of art. I would love this gorgeous bag! I would especially love to have 5 minutes to ask de la Renta questions regarding his work. One of your best giveaways yet!

  • I was eight years old and my mom took me for my first trip to NYC. She took me to Sak's and bought the most wonderful purse I had ever seen. It smelled good, it felt good, and it made my farm wife momma look good. She told me then, " Always buy good shoes and a good bag and you can dress in flour sack dresses and still look like Park Avenue". I never forgot it. And I never forgot how Oscar made even a farmer's wife look like a "First Lady".

  • For me Oscar de la Renta has always been about bringing elegance into your lifestyle. As a teenager in 1977, I could not afford the beautiful clothing, but I was able to purchase a bottle of Oscar perfume. I always felt very elegant and sophisticated whenever I wore the fragrance.

  • What a fantastic bag, would love to win it! :)

  • This is easy. I first fell in love with Oscar when the scent of this lovely perfume passed by me many decades ago. I have been a fan of not only the pefume but the wonderful fashions of which I dream of owning one day. The handbags are just the topping to these glorious lines. Thank you for being there!

  • When I was six or seven years old, our neighbour gave me a massive stack of Vogue magazines. I remember very clearly a gorgeous photo of a model wearing what struck me as the most beautiful black dress in the world, walking down a city street. I memorised every detail of that photo--the way the model stood, the buildings behind her, and especially every visible detail of the dress. For a little girl growing up in rural Australia, it represented a glamourous life that I knew I wanted someday. The dress which I so loved was by Oscar De La Renta, and I scoured the other magazines looking for other examples of his work. That day, I fell deeply and passionately in love with Oscar's work, and it's a relationship that's lasted to this day. To this day, whenever I walk down the streets of Chicago, I pretend that I am that girl in the picture, and that I am wearing that fantastic Oscar De La Renta dress!

  • A little girl utterly obsessed with fairytales, I saw this breathtaking de la Renta bridal dress in my mother’s Vogue. Ethereal, a pale-pearl color, with a flowing gown and a stunning corset bejeweled with flowers at the top. I told my mom, “Here is proof of my princesses and magic”

  • I FELL IN LOVE WITH OSCAR DE LA RENTA BAG THE MINUTE I SAW IT. THE PURSE IS JUST BREATH TAKING. I MEAN JUST LOOK AT THE STITCHING AND THE DESIGN. COULD YOU ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE PERFECT. IT IS MY DIAMOND.

  • can take or leave his stuff but i'd love to take that expensive bag

  • My first friend, confidante, and the most beautiful woman in the world was dressed by Mr. de la Renta. Only the best was worn by Barbie. She traveled the world and went to balls in her beautiful designer gowns and caught the eyes of every prince in the room.

This is how I was first introduced to Mr. de la Renta, and I have been a fan ever since. I still feel like a little bit of Barbie is in me when I put on my Oscar de la Renta Sunglasses!

  • Like several other readers, I fell in love with the aesthetic and feel of Oscar de la Renta's work upon watching Sarah Jessica Parker don a magenta dress that fits at the waist and billows into a full body. Since then, I've grown to appreciate the designer's creation of beautiful, classic shapes that compliment a woman's body--and the striking range of colors, to boot. I'm thinking of last year's floral tea dresses in particular, inspiring fantasies of my wearing impressionist art. Thanks for sponsoring the contest.

  • I LOVE the BAG!!!

  • 1985. I was attached to a military base on the eastern seaboard(US). The base hospital had a gift shop that sold a few exclusive items; Mr. La Renta's perfume was one of them. It was heavenly! What a luxury to have for myself, a quietly elegant scent with such subtlety. I've never felt more beautiful.

  • Mid April 1988

  • I've always loved everything Oscar, but when my mom told me about his Dominican heritage and his HUGE heart, I just about fell in love with the man. My heart swells with pride every time I see any of his designs...

  • I am a purse freak!!! You can't have enough - would love to add and Oscar de la renta to my collection - thanks for the opportunity!!!

  • I first fell in love with Oscar de la Renta's white lace gown several years ago from a Vogue pictorial.

  • i never have

  • When I was 21 I got to go to fashion week in NY and saw a red leather sleeveless cowl neck dress that he did and I fell in love with not only Oscar but fashion in general so thank you Oscar!!

  • I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta the first time I saw his bags in a boutique window!

  • I fell in love with a Oscar de la Renta gown five years ago and I have been hooked on everything Oscar ever since. Would love to be chosen to win this bag and be the envy of everyone! Thanks for the contest!

  • The first time I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta was when my mother wore a stunning vintage Oscar de la Renta dress to my graduation. She was the talk of everyone there and made me so proud because my 40-something mother can look so fabulous.

  • Have never owned anything by him nor have I even seen his products in person. I live in a small town on a limited income so I am not exposed to the "finer" things in life except via the telly. Sex and the City was one of my favorite shows and I loved most of their clothes, shoes, bags and accessories! Can't imagine owning a bag that cost more than my car, what a hoot that would be:)

  • When I realized the stars that chose his designs to wear on award shows looked classy and timeless!

  • Back when I was living in Asia, my style guru is Sex and the City, I immediately fell in love with the pink dress worn by Carrie (season 6) I love how the formal dresses are so wearable!

Bought in May the Cream Pleated Silk Organza Blouse and Cardinal Dip-Dye Silk Faille Skirt.... and now, i cant get the Bow Dress out of my head!

    Git

  • At 12, I instantly fell for Oscar’s fall 2002 collection. It was so subtle, ladylike, sleek, and GORGEOUS. I knew my future adult self would LIVE in Oscar! 17 now, I’m working my way there; the Goya would be a good start. It’s everything I’ve loved about Oscar’s work!

  • The first time I fell in love with Oscar, was when I realized that he could get almost $5,000 bucks for a bag he designed.

  • The first time I fell in love with you was when I was a girl and my Grammy was wearing the perfume, Oscar. The scent was so beautiful and my Grammy wore it well! When the debut of Intrusion came in 2002, I just had to have it. I always think of her when I wear it - thank you for helping keep her memory alive. In addition, you have done so much for children in the Dominican Republic by providing a school and day-care center. You not only are a fabulous designer, but also someone with a kind heart. Thank you!

  • i first fell in love with oscar de la renta bags when i saw the look on my girlfriend's face after presenting her with one. I saved for 6 months to afford one, and would love to give her another <3

  • My feet did a happy dance.

  • My best friend used to wear the perfume. It smelled so good! I still remember the coat she wore at the time and the perfume. Also I have a magazine clipping of the cutest white one-piece bathing suit with a black band and black bow tie at the top by Oscar de la Renta. I saved it because it was so beautiful.

  • The first time I fell in love with Oscar De La Renta will be if I win this bag to give to my wife for our anniversary. She would not mind that I had won it if it is an Oscar De La Renta Goya Bag! She is from a small town of 500 originally so to own something as lovely as this bag would be a real treat. It would make her think she was walking down the red carpet at the Academy Awards. Thank you.

  • I grew up in Southern California and I loved watching the Hollywood fashions. Oscar de la Renta was one of my favorites.

  • His class shows thru particularly with his bags. Actually the first time I saw them. Just gorgeous.

  • They say that your sense of smell is very tied into your memories, and that is definitely the case for me. As long as I can remember my mom has worn Oscar Perfume. It is her signature scent, not only because she is allergic to everything else (really, she is), but also because it has an elegant, classic smell that just is her

Smelling Oscar makes me remember the times we have had together, from shopping together as a teen, to opening my medical school acceptance letter together, to my wedding day. My mom is one of my best friends. We speak nearly every day despite living thousands of miles apart, and I can't wait to move closer to her again!

  • What a sophisticated bag!

  • The first time I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta was when I was a teenager in the and I used to go through my mothers scarf collection. She owned a few that where so beautiful. She could not afford expensive designer clothing so she splurged on her "finishing touches" instead. She had the most beautiful scarves! My mother has since passed away and her collection has now been split between my two daughters. They now wear the scarves because they are truely timeless fashion!

  • What I like about Mr. de La Renta is the fact that he contributed a lot of money toward the construction of a school in his native Dominican Republic. Not only a great designer, but a great citizen.

  • I first heard the name when I was a teenager and the name seemed so sophisticated to me and fashionable.

  • I fell in love with Oscar de la Renta when I became interested in lingerie. I started believing in romance.
