Jil Sander Buffalo Tote

In case you thought from yesterday’s stories that we were suddenly hating everything, here is something to feast your eyes and hands on. Jil Sander, pretty much that is all you need to say to me to get my adrenaline going before my next latte. I know, she is pretty simple which can be misconstrued as boring, but unless I am getting on a Mardi Gras parade float, boring structured, well tailor and dreamy material excites me. And for Jil Sander, this tote is not so boring, it has defined details that are clean and polished. The two big pleats are all it takes to make me shout, “Give that to me NOW”! The handles are also perfectly balanced and in proportion for the rounded shape, just a tad longer and the whole thing goes in the shitter. Remember the days when Prada (who owns Jil Sander) had their name embossed tastefully in the leather? At least Prada left some of Sander’s philosophy intact by continuing this for the Jil Sander bag line. I fear though with this new collection being as good as it is, that it will get enough attention and sales to warrant the giant emblems going forward. For someone who left her name sake and company behind to go sailing because she didn’t want to go cheap, this would send her over the edge. Stay on the yacht Jil! At Browns Fashion for $1700.

I like the proportions, although I do think it’s boring. The label stamp seems like an attempt to make it sophisticated, but it just isn’t. The line and details make it look like a poorly fitted shirt, and the color is just a step away from thrift-store-aged suede.

Kelly, there is no need to fret. Prada sold Jil Sander to a British Private Equity group a couple of years ago. Also, Raf Simons has done a remarkable job staying true to the brand roots while injecting his own personality.

As for the bag, I love the design, but would love a more vibrant color.

I find it stylish and somewhat sophisticated. The colour suits the design of the bag but I am not sure about the length of the handles, they seem to be too short and as a result when the bag is worn is going to be too close to the body and in the summer months that means one thing, stain marks.

i really do respect the simplicity of it; the pleating, material, and color are really sophisticated! personally, i would pick something with more of an instant “wow” factor just because i’m still a teen, lol. but that is a lovely bag!!
