Celeb Snob: Naomi Watts and Mulberry Mabel
By Bag Snob Kelly on August 13, 2008 9:00 am Kelly Cook

I’m killing two birds with one stone here by giving a shout out to one of my favorite actresses, Naomi Watts, who looked casually chic in her Mulberry Mabel bag while shopping in the city last week. This is a great tote for new moms as it has multi pockets, tri-compartments (the strap may be left undone, see the three compartments? I am all about separate compartments lately) and is super soft and lightweight! I quite fancy it for some reason, even more so than the Bayswater. There are two sizes, a 21cm (blue-£395, USD$790) and a 29cm (fuschia- £595, USD$1190). The golden snakeskin above is only USD$1,795– why does that sound so incredibly reasonable to me? This looks like a nice bag. Do you own any Mulberry bags, Tina? I have been considering buying the Bayswater. I do not own any Mulberry currently.

I’m not keen on the Bayswater think it is too much like the birkin albeit the Pink Oistrich does look fun……but I do love the mabel especially in the golden snakeskin…what size is the one pictured above?!

    Hi Lori,

I love the look of Mulberry bags and have been wanting a Bayswater but never got around to it. I think I would go for the Mabel though, if I do get around to it :)

It is surprisingly lightweight, I saw it in London and fell in love–

I have commented about half a dozen times or more that IMO Mulberry is lost. The bags pictured have no spirit at all. You can find lookalikes everywhere and the colors are ugly.Even the price is too high.

I was waiting for your Mulberry rant, Mette :)

We know you are a YSL girl! xoxo

I happen to like the plain old black and white version of the Mabel. There is something so “spectator” about it.

I like the blue one. I don’t think the colors are that bad. It’s a smart little bag for a decent price. What’s wrong with that Mette? You never like any bags so I guess we’ll just discount what you say.

I have Naomi’s bag- the pebble Mabel and I love it. I found the customer service at the stores to be amazing- everyone was very nice and my SA was so patient with me as I made my choice. The goatsking mabel is so lightweight and convenient. I highly recommend this bag- I get so many more comments about it than my other branded bags.

Tina: What you said is true. I only have YSL bags, but ONLY under 10, so now you know. There are also Ysl´s I don´t like. To Anne: If you have read this blog regularly you should have noticed that I DO like other brands too. I find your comment about me harsh and rude. I believe that we on this blog can write about our impressions and I have nothing against those who prefer Mulberry. So just buy your Mulberry and be happy.

The totally unnecessary belt reminds me of the Marc Jacobs Veneta. I carried one for years before finally getting fed up.

I never liked the bayswater, but this I can live with. The hot pink is quite eye catching and fairly inexpensive.

“This is a great tote for new moms” – lol – I am a new mom and have a Mulberry Poppy that I use as a “diaper, etc. bag! It’s not a bag I would have normally bought but it works so well as a diaper bag, the different compartments make it easy to stay organized. I’m sure the Mabel would work well too, but I think the Poppy is cuter.

I’m getting a pebble Mable in a few days, it’s on its way from shipment! Wee! I like that it’s sooo lightweight. I’m over big, heavy bags. So much for loving suede-lined bags.

i know i’m a bit late on this post, however i came across it and i fell in love with the baby mabel so much in the blue that I had to get it. It really is a nice bag. I don’t see it being my only Mable in my humble collection.

I have the Mulberry Agyness Deyn that I am considering selling for the right price. I hate to part with it, but it should go to someone who will get more use out of it. This bag once retailed for $1350 and was purchased directly from Mulberry. I’ve used it less than 10x. It is in excellent condition. Please let me know if you are interested.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a pebble Mulberry Mabel (in the regular size)? Also, does it come with the option of spongy leather, grain leather, and goat leather? Thanks.
