Alesssandra Gucci: AG Limited Edition

This Gucci heir is not cashing in on her famous surname, well, not directly anyway (And if she did, she'd get sued by the Gucci group. Oh, and her mother is in jail for arranging a hitman to kill her father. The Gucci tale is one of murder and madness!). Alessandra Gucci's line of handbags, called AG Limited Edition has created quite a stir in the fashion industry because of her name but they will be remembered for their unique designs. I am not a big fan of over embellished bags without much function but I do appreciate the unique design of the one above-- it is the perfect bag for Fancy Nancy in her chauffeured Bentley! There will only be 99 AG Limited bags made in three styles and three colors, wholesale price is steep at $6,665 to $10,134 (meaning retail will be a bit more than double that). What do you think? Will the line sink or swim, in other words: Snob or Slob?

  • Who will pay that price for one of these bags when you can get a beautiful Hermes bag for less!

Why do these designers stick a Limited Edition label on bags and think they can demand heavily inflated prices...more to the point why does the consumer strive to have a limited edition bag, scarf etc is it because we are all so hooked on Vintage so think we are going to make vast amounts of money on our collections?!

Sorry for my rant...I know I am one of the mad consumers I talk about above not sure why I can't think like this when I am lusting after something that is going to take a lot of leg work!! =)

    • Hermès alligator bags are more, more, more expensive.

Before juding be sure to know what you are talking about!
Behind high quality products there is an incredible and unknown world.
Artisans with 100 years of experience.
      Hours and hours of work.
AG Limited Editions bags, like Hermès are totally made by hand using the best alligator skins. 100% of real quality.

      Nine hours each!

  • Don't particularly care for that bag. The red and green looks to Christmas-y for me.

  • This is absolutely hideous. Twisted snake skin?

Give me a break. And multi-coloured exotic skins? Puh-lease!!

  • I can't believe how people who have new labels think that it's okay to start their prices at ridiculous price points, as if by virtue of positioning themselves in a luxury catagory they are entitled to do so. Yes, the materials are exotic and expensive, the design is not bad, but unless it took someone one month to make with sourced gemstones, it is not worth it. It drives me crazy as a young jewelry designer, seeing the competition mark up their so-so goods at 3 times the prevailing market rate.

Also, the premise behind the limited edition is that the label regularly produces a mass market or production line at a lesser price point with inferior technique and materials and wants to establish a more upmarket, limited run of luxurious products. Given that she has no design or production reputation aside from her genealogical tie to Gucci, there's no need for using the tag "limited edition" Give me a break. But I suppose there are always the people who think if they attain the most expensive of anything, it must be worth getting. (the 45,000 LV patchwork bag, anyone?

    Sorry to rant.

    • Dear All,
envy, prejudice and ignorance are really so bad and very sad.
      The world's sickenesses!

I bought in Paris for my wife the Rodolfo Pink number 11/11.
It's incredibly beautiful and soo unique in all aspect.
Every piece is numbered and certificated. The packaging is soo gorgeous. Everything is soo luxury.

This kind of product and service are only for those ladies who are capable of dreaming and fully appreciating the fundamental values of a truly luxury, elegant, high quality product.

Hope you have the chance to see these fantastic bags!

Great job to Alessandra and to her willing to put herself to the test.

      All the best .

  • i really dont like how the left side looks like mesh. and the color combination makes it look tres cheap.. which it isnt!

  • I think these were a lot of ideas here put together in a very weird way. Although, I have to say, it does look different. It looks like nothing else out there. If you took all the concepts smeared across this bag, and made separate bags for each of them, you'd have several bags that look like bags that already exist, right? I would not personally wear it, but I would definitely want to have a conversation with the person would! I'm sure they're fascinating.

  • These bags are actually really just, well, really not that nice for the price or the effort it seems she's spent creating them.

you can look at them on her website here:

  • SLOB
I don't care if your last name is Gucci, Hermes or Chanel. This is grotesque.

  • What a surprise- I seem to like this bag! I like the bold colors. Now this does not mean that I have intension of getting one fir myself.

  • The design of this bag is interesting and I find it overall to be heavenly. The color is slightly suits me but comes in two others for people who are put off by the "Christmas-y" hues. The strap gentley twisting and then fanning out onto the front flap is one little detail that is enough, for me, to warrant the cost. Good design is in the details and that small detail is appreciated. It's what makes this bag noticeable in a fairly crowded feel. Would I take this over a Hermes? Yes. The really LUXURIOUS thing about this bag is that only 99 other people in the world will have it which means exclusivity, something a lot of products lack which justifies that price.

  • I love this bag! I think that the design is beautiful and orginal. I like the colors and didn't think of Christmas at all. If only it didn't cost so much!

  • reminds me of Violet May laptop case:

  • I see this, and I think "Ivana Trump". lol.

  • At first glance, I thought it was really unique and loud. But, that is the intention of the design, no? I like the way the colours seem to blend into each other. Then I realized the handles are not symetrical so it looks unbalanced & makes it difficult to carry. Personally, I would just get another hermes bag rather than this.

  • before anyone jumps in and barks that im envious or jealous or anything of that like.. i surely am not. i am purely a bag aficionado and hig end store buyer who appreciates good clean workmanship and neat designs.
this is so extremely old fashioned i wish her to realise soon if her target is anyone younger than 85 years old.and i am not being mean. it is totally over the top not in a good way. croc or alligator is luxurious enough for it not to have a twisted handle, multiple contrasting(muted?) colours and a multicolour (!!) crystal brooch.
kudos to her if she gets any exposure of her collection.
it surely is not on my wishlist
