Dautore Handbags Slouchy Hobodautore_slouchside

dautore_slouch_intHaven't you heard? Boho chic is back even though the dwarf twins are no longer in the news (as much). Maybe that's the reason, it's way less tiring this way. OK, so this may not be so bohemian but I am appreciating a good practical hobo, so why not add some fun and interesting details, like the ruching, patent cording swirls on the sides and knotted strap - and they do not get in the way of function but give the bag style and personality. It is also my Cheap Thrill of the week so if you are not totally convinced, at least you won't be needing to take the bus to afford it. And that brings me to the thing that makes "Cheap" the operative word here, the interior's got some funky printed lining that I do not like. Yes, it's bright and colorful but so are clowns, let's just say it is not a sign of refined style. It probably is not so bothersome if you have to just glance at it quickly but you'd be surprised how much you pay attention to the interior of a bag. That is the thing I look at first and is usually a deal breaker for me if I am not fully satisfied with its quality. Hmmm, maybe I should not have featured this bag. Oh well, too late now. Take it for what it is. Besides, there is no science to bag obsession, someone might really be digging the print.

  • I like the print, sorry! Yes, I'm ashamed. To me, it just seems hip. I like bold prints in lining though. I also look for lining before buying, but apparently I seek the opposite thing there! I find it cheers my day.
Plus, black lining turns my bags into black holes, waiting to swallow all of my belongings.

  • what is great about hobos is that they can double as hip book bags when im walking around campus! I love this bag. It reminds me of this great Loeffler Randall tote i've been considering for a possible purse/book bag purchase:

  • I'm not sure why we have to make personal comments such as the "dwarf twins" - I'm not sure it was necessary as part of the bag review...other than that the bag is quite cute!

  • Now this is a real ugly bag. Sorry.

  • I actually like the lining. I'm not too sure about those coils on the sides, but I do like the shape and handle.

  • agree with Miffy. I enjoy reading Bagsnob everyday but every so often, I can't help but feel that they've gone too far with their reviews, in an attempt to be funny and witty. Their reviews are fun enough without those occasional 'mistakes' that just sound nasty.

btw, I don't like the bag but there's nothing wrong to use funky fabrics for the interior.

  • Tina is the same height as one of the Olsen twins, so that would make her a dwarf too???

  • kelly, you should look in the mirror and think about why you continually feel the need to be so nasty.

  • I wasn’t going to say anything at first, but I don’t think it’s fair to only have dissenting opinions. I'm so over these losers who feel the need to keep reiterating the fact that Kelly is outspoken. If you don't like her sarcastic humor just read Tina’s posts, go read another blog or better yet go live in a commune where people pick daisies and give hugs and kisses all day!

Kelly – Keep doing what you’re doing! The reason why your blog is the best is because you’re “unabashed and honest.” (WWD)

  • James, your fawning is tiresome. By the way, you omitted the rest of the WWD quote. It is the Bag Snobs' reviews of handbags that they are praised for. Not for nasty remarks about other human beings.

I for one am sick of reading Kelly's posts where she continually bashes other women for their height, weight, and wrinkles. So you are right, from now on I will skip to Tina's posts. She is sarcastic and witty about bags, which is what we come here for.

  • Morgan you are absolutely hilarious! "My fawning is tiresome." Puhlease! I always give my honest opinion. I was one of the only people who supported the fake Veronica when she was speaking her mind and I mentioned that I thought Kelly's taste was questionable when she featured the Lanvin satin bags. Before you make ludicrous statements check your facts. Anyway, thanks for taking my advice and only reading Tina's posts because I for one am sick of hearing everyone bash Kelly for speaking the truth.

  • In one of the bagsnob features about the new line of clothing from the Olsen twins I believe that Tina was photographed with one of them and infact Tina was more petite than the Olsen twin, so does that mean that Kelly goes around calling her best friend "super dwarf", just in the quest of speaking the truth?

I just don't get it, speaking the truth about bags is one thing, constantly making rather "snide" personal remarks is quite another. I have been reading this blog for a long time and see this time and time again in Kelly's posts, like Morgan, I will skip to posts by Tina only.

  • I think it was necessary to point this out because I feel that the bohemian look is only back in fashion now that people don't care as much about the dwarf twins, so as to not associate that look with them anymore. I believe that point is valid for a fashion review. And I call Tina a dwarf all the time. What, you think she doesn't know she is short?

    Love,
    Kelly

  • LOL. I love ur wit. :)

  • lol...loves it kelly! thanks for clarying. my best friend is 4'11 and i call her short stack all the time. i don't get what the big deal is about stating the obvious! the olsen twins ARE short. sjp IS wrinkled. and i'm sure they have mirrors.

  • I'm sure diminutive terms can be acceptable and humorous between people who are bonded with affection, but calling random people dwarfs sounds a bit offensive.

Kelly's reviews are surely fun to read. it's just that she's sometimes a bit too sarcastic. :)

and James, no need to call people 'losers'.

  • I wonder if Tina calls Kelly an ugly fat slob? Just a thought since Tina "knows" she is short, Kelly probably "knows" what she is too right.

  • Actually, I do tell Kelly when she needs to wear more flattering clothes or better make up. But what we say to each other are always in jest and fun. Never deliberately mean.

And yes, I am quite aware that I am short, tiny even. 5' tall and 97 pounds but I have never minded being petite. :)

Let's keep the comments to the bags, shall we? Thanks.

  • Totally agree with Julia, saying it to someone that you have a bonding with is quite different, saying it in "jest" is also fine but it somehow just doesn't come across that way in this bag review. That said, I don't agree with the attacks on Kelly in retaliation - that's wrong.

Anyway, like Tina says, we should keep to comments on "bags"!
