What’s wrong with Miu Miu?
By Bag Snob Kelly

miumiunapapatch.jpgmiumiunappapatch2.jpg

No brand can be perfect all the time, and we don’t expect them to be. But we don’t expect them to go nuts and turn out bags that make our stomachs churn, either. We have often professed our love of Miu Miu, from clothes, shoes to bags, we can’t seem to get enough. Until today, that is. The nappa patchwork bags from Miu Miu look like they have a bad case of the bag shingles. miumiunappapatch3.jpgBesides the obvious (being that the bag was thrown together using left over scraps from all the actually cute Miu Miu bags), the scaly pieces of leather look scary and diseased to me. I feel like I am going to throw up now cuz I’ve been staring at it for so long. Must think happy bag thoughts, happy bag thoughts, on my way to airport now. Talk to you lovelies when I’m abroad. xo Miu Miu nappa patchwork bags, $1,240 at Saks.com

The one on the left sort of looks like they took cadaver skin. Oh no no no no. If these were boxy hard-shell bags, and those were mother-of-pearl tiles, and the handles didn’t look like they were taken off a nine west bag, they’d be great. So, if they were a different bag.

I generally like Miu Miu for stylish bags and clothes but OMG this bag is so ugly. What are they thinking? Someone must have gotten up from the wrong side of the bed that day….

I agree these bags are disgusting and I often find myself admiring Miu Miu bags as well. I think it’s great that you guys can love a brand without blindly adoring everything they make.

Oh my man. Not to be mean, but I wouldn’t carry them if they paid me to… T you might be right: They REALLY look like they are made by left-over skins! YAK!

UUgghh, these bags are hideous and scary!!! My kids said it looks like some type of animal.

=) I love Miu Miu bags….I do not own one yet though…I am currently searching for a new handbag that is gorgeous, roomy and functional (I have 3 boys that are under 5!) that I can use anywhere and everywhere, dressed up or down…. I love the Miu Miu Stamped Croc in Grey (1295) especially the long adjustable straps so I can carry it(so boho chic) while pushing the stroller and running after my other two boys all at the same time…I know a lot of people are hating Gucci’s designs right now but I dunno, for some reason, since it came out, I love love the Gucci Large Hobo Chain With Horsebit Detail Strap in the GG logo, beige/Ebony fabric with off white croc-like leather trim and light gold hardware. ($1295)I love the slouchiness and roominess of it. It also comes without the GG logo-leather in a beautiful Ebony, Buttery cream color. Help! I’m in a dilemma! I’m sooo confused! Which is a better buy for my money???

I´ve never liked Miu Miu´s bags. Maybe they are a bit too `youngish´for me. The picture of the brown bag however looks quite fun. I must be the only one here writing something positive about it! Although I like many bags, doesn´t mean I´m going to buy them.

    James…

Thanks for the input! I liked the Miu Miu

Matelasse Tote from Saks…The leather looks soo buttery soft. But what do you think about this one? (MIU MIU Stamped Croc Tote)

    http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/editprod.jhtml?commerceItemId=ci243391000107&deliveryDate=&itemId=prod45750014&suiteId=&cmCat=cat000000cat980731cat6000734cat14350762cat13950741cat17520744

Regarding the Gucci…I totally agree on the GG fabric. There is another Horsebit top handle Large hobo in Ivory that comes in leather…too plain for me though.

    I’m still confused… =(

huh. I actually really like these… they look like little cottage roofs — or, yes, magnified hair. it’s a little deranged, but stuff doesn’t have to be pretty to be beautiful.

As someone who makes bags and works with leather, I find these bags interesting, because it makes me think of how they’re made, and they’re pretty up there on the unique/different scale. I appreciate that.

    *Cheers*
