There are a lot of really amazing bags from Chanel this season – this is not the best in the collection but it is our Cheap Thrills of the week. That’s right, you heard right, but this is a Chanel Cheap Thrill so the standards are a bit different, it is over $1000. It’s really smart to them to make bags at a lower price point, it allows the label to be accessible to the younger girls to get them hooked but it’s not like they are bending over backwards to achieve this, it is still a very Chanel bag. Fabric has been done by Chanel so it is not a huge departure and it is a classic flap, but the novelty crinkled patent finish is refreshing and hip. This picture makes the fabric look kind of cheap but in person it is quite lush, it is not a super shiny patent which I prefer. The fabric is slightly puffed so it feels really good against the body and of course is super light which makes the bag that much more desirable. The only detail that bothered me is the CC magnetic closure on the flap – does it cost that much more to put in the classic CC twist lock closure? If so, I would pay an extra $100 to have that. $1295, call (800) 550-0005 to have one located for you but I suspect this will be available at every boutique.
WASTE OF MONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! get a decent sized miu miu or a nice barneys discounted lanvin instead of a puny piece leather wrapped in a shiny garbage bag! seriously, thats what it reminds me off. big miss this time karl
WASTE OF MONEEEEEEEEEY! i’d rather buy a nice miu miu or a dicsounted lanvin than a puny piece of leather wrapped in garbage bags, even if it is chanel. this bag really does remind me of garbage, but i know people wil disagree because of the plain fact that IT’S CHANEL. who gives a f%*k? a bag should be stellar if your paying 4 figures for it. i would not settle for THIS if about to pay a grand! plus, its just basic black. there is a big difference between “classic” and just plain boring, and i think this clearly resembles the latter.
It’s a cute “entry level” Chanel. Kelly, totally agree with you, the lock makes it look v. cheap.

just had this in my hands at chanel boutique. its cute and puffy but 100% fabric and the corners already show wear on the display one.
chanel does have great new bags, the best is the new “tiny” quilt which is so chic! I like the black patent bowler. so young and fun. $2750 but will get 12% back, am thinking about it!

i was wondering if chanel ever came out with the 2.55 reissue in a metallic grey colour? everytime i google the above a whole host of fake bags come up and i was almost sure i saw this colour somewhere, the real deal i mean.

I don’t care for this wrinkled bag. Won’t buy it even if it is under $1000. It reminded me of fakes Chanel bags in Chinatown in NYC, especially with the magnetic closure. For almost $1200, I agree with Kelly, Chanel can afford to put a classic CC closure on the bag.

I agree with savvy gal,it does look like a knock off,would not like to spend $1295 on something that looks like from a ‘designer inspired’ website.
Generally I love Chanel bags, but this one just doesn’t do it for me. Any idea if jumbo classic flap will be available for the fall, and in which colours (and price)?

I just saw the 2.55 colors for Fall- the quilt has strips in it. Not sure how I feel about that….

Hi Kelly,I like your”refreshing and hip”.that’s what I feel about the wrinkled fabric.I have the big gold chain 2.55 this spring.every time I put on my shoulder,or hide the chain as a clutch,It’s refreshing and hip.care free,the fabric just so good to touch no worry to be scratch…

this bag is much different in real life, its very unique and stylish, and is very glamorous
and anyone who says its “knock off” looking is just affraid to buy it and have some ppl think its fake by the person whos wearing it:P
they make a lot of classic chanel fake bags!
