You know the hate for Miu Miu wouldn’t last long. Although I agree the scaly bags are pretty bad, I am loving this woven leather beauty. Yes, it is another woven leather bag but this one with the big pleat changes everything and makes the shape of the bag cute like a dumpling, yet refined and chic (so not like a dumpling). 
The sheen on the black leather also adds additional texture and interest, it almost looks like it is various tones rather than just black, which is good because a flat black woven leather bag is very very stodgy and down right boring (that includes the Bottega Veneta wovens in black, that’s right, you are hearing something negative about our beloved Bottega but it is so true, nobody buys the black woven from them. And I just told the Bottega SA I worked with today that we never say anything bad about BV. Oh well!). My favorite part about this bag is that is puffy with a snap closure gusset so the whole thing opens up and is as roomy as a Winnebago inside. Don’t you hate digging through your bag for stuff? At Saks for $1595.

If I was a woman, I would buy that bag in a proverbial second.
The proportions are working for me. What works the most about this bag for me is how the pleat doesn’t make it look clunky. It keeps its lightness, even with an obvious bunching at the top, which I’m sure is difficult to get with woven leather. I love the maxi bag, and I’m sure some could actually fit this over their shoulder. A good choice. I’m not sure I agree with you on the plain black woven totes by BV, though. I was at a party once, and a woman and I got into a label show-off: my Smythson wallet, her Burberry trench. Her Apple iPhone, my Dolce and Gabanna gold razr, my Comme de Garcon purple velvet bag, her vintage Bottega. At the sight of her vintage Bottega, everyone declared her the winner. Maybe I was just at the wrong party. Maybe I should pick up this bag and demand a rematch!

I LOVE this bag!! It did immediately remind me of Bottega, but Miu Miu handbags are my weakness..Though has anyone had a chance to check out Prada Resort? The accessories look fab..can’t wait!

hmmm, i may have to disagree about the bottega black. i think the sheen and beauty of the black bottega leather are extraordinary. i have the ball bag in black as well, and even men who are not into bags (like my 80 year old dad) tell me it’s a beautiful bag. i have yet to see a woven leather bag outdo the craftsmanship and artistry of a bottega.

Has anyone seen in person the Miu Miu patchwork dome bag on page 57 of Bergdorf’s fall preview magazine? is it truly green, purple, brown, taupe and black as it seems to be in the magazine? the only versions I can find on-line are “berry” (yuk) and a cream and brown version. Thank you
