The other day I had the pleasure of meeting Kara Ross and her PR coordinator Elizabeth and they gave me a firsthand look at the latest Kara Ross jewelry and handbag collections. Ross works with an array of skins and for the first time, this season, some of her pieces (and my favorites) were made with cork. Most of the handbags and clutches come complete with semi-precious stones and coordinate with her jewelery pieces (besides being a designer, Ross is also a gemologist). I fell in love with this cork “Porto” bag accented with purple snake! (jump for photo!)
I’m especially impressed given that I am not at all a fan of cork and think that it’s usually quite cheapening, but this to me just screams refined, jet-setting St. Tropez lady (fittingly Elizabeth told me that part of the collection was inspired by a vintage Pucci jacket)! I can already picture myself strolling along the beach in this. Perhaps I’ll even honor the bag by toning a Pucci scarf with purple in the design:)
This honey lizard “Extra Large Amo” clutch with its amethyst closure is also fab and a perfect size (makes the transition from daytime bag to nighttime bag so much easier when you’re not stuffing your belongs into a teeny tiny bag)! Prices are still TBD, but check out the website to see where Kara Ross is sold!
