Dry Martini by the Magnes Sisters

I have been waiting to see a bag like this for quite sometime now, especially at this price! I know there has been a huge reader response to our “cheap thrills” posts, since $500 is (for most people, me included) not actually that cheap! Most of my friends agonize over spending anything over $50 for a bag, although we are in our early 20’s with very little or no disposable income. The Martini collection from the Magnes Sisters retail between $198- $334, which is still a stretch for me, but worth every penny! The bags come in three styles and sizes, and various color choices (including the most delicious shade of purple I have seen all season!). The Classic Martini, although very cute, is a bit small for everyday use and probably wouldn’t even fit my wallet. The Dirty Martini is a tad big and has a more mature look to it…But the Dry Martini is just right!

I have been looking for a new clutch, and nothing I have seen can compete with this sleek deco design. At 11×6, it is the perfect size to tuck under your arm with a cocktail dress, or grab on your way to a lunch date in jeans and flip-flops. For my fellow babes on a budget: the classic line and shape of this bag mean that it won’t be going out of style anytime soon. Also, I can’t help but think how amazing it would look with a bright, summer manicure, maybe a color from the new Chanel Robertson Blvd line…? With this seasons colors being nudes and neon’s, don’t resist something that can compliment both! Check their site for a store near you.

I think it is such a wonderful idea to post moderately priced bags such as this to cater wider audiences. While now I am lucky enough to enjoy my birkins, I still remember what it was like when I first came out of college and lived by myself in NYC. And I think it’s wonderful that bagsnob does not discriminate and gives the lesser expensive bags the same blog space as my beloved birkins! WELCOME GIRLS!!!

I’m not gonna say that I love it. You all know I love a clutch, and there is a red Bottega clutch for sale at net-a-porter.com that I’ve got my eye on, but that is over double the price of this bag. I don’t know. I like the lines; I like the color. I like the shape. The materials look lovely as well. I’m just not sure if it’s special. It borders sort of looking like a wristlet you’d get free with a perfume purchase.

I agree with PJH. I think the white clutch is kind of cute but I don’t know if I will run out and buy one. But the price point is heavenly. Anything under $500 now is considered reasonable??? or maybe it is just me.

I agree with you girls; my favorite is also the white but it does vaguely remind me of something I can get at the discount section of a department store. Have you seen Liucia clutches? They are heavenly – I always get compliments on mine! And at 250, I didn’t think it was cheap but apparently, a lot of girls here would think it is!!? :)

These clutches are sweet, but after readon the comments all I can think of is “gift with purchase”. Good call on the Liucia clutches, shoegirl – they are too cute! http://www.liucia.com

It’s great that you are posting a wider price range of bags but this bag looks…. cheap? Is it the photo? It looks like something from JC Penney. I wouldn’t pay more than $20 for this clutch.

Those clutches are absolutely precious…and it’s exciting that they are priced so affordably. I’ve been searching around for a cute and well priced clutch for quite some time now. I also found an amazing Goldenbleu bag on sale the other day:

How beautiful is that bag? These are both definitely going to be on my must list.

Thanks for the feedback! I really love Liucia bags – it’s hard to find reasonably priced items now without going really cheap on the materials or workmanship. I’m eyeing this cute nappa bag next http://www.liucia.com/en/catalog/upcloseconnie_

green_en.htm but so much shopping this month : ( And I love so many bags that the girls here talk about but really, I feel super guilty about paying a few hundred for a bag as it is!

Ya know, in the US today, with people starving, living in tents, children going without food or health care……spending any amount on a freakin handbag is obscene……198 to 334 dollars.. The thing didn’t cost 10 to design, make and market. This is why this country is so screwed up. Because people think carrying a purse around is going to make a difference in their lives. Whatever
