Chanel Bowler Bag in “Petite” Matelasse

Every time I come to Paris, I scoop up the latest Chanel bags because the Paris boutiques stock the best Chanel bags in the world, hands down. This trip is no exception, I purchased two Chanel bags so far. The purple one above is from the Paris-London collection and it is destined to be one of my all time favorite bags! I saw this “Petite” matelasse bag in black the other day and though I found it interesting, it didn’t really strike my fancy. This purple one, however, seduced me at “Bonjour” and I grabbed it without knowing who what or where and shouted to my SA “Je le prend! Je le prend!” Chanel calls this “Sac Rigide” in petite matelasse and this gorgeous darling is in a subtle shade of purple, it is not patent leather but a beautifully glazed calf leather. It’s such a happy and round shape, and the color will go with absolutely everything! It can be casual or can be dressed up, depending on your mood. I love the buckle on it, too, it’s very modern and has four little buttons around the subtle logo. The “petite” quilt and the bowler shape makes this bag really youthful. Even the chain is subtle, I can tuck it in or leave it out which gives it a different look. The size is around 32 cm and the price is $3,600 USD.

A big thank you to the lovely Chanel SA, Jessica Barillere, at the rue du Faubourg boutique. From the minute I arrived until she sent the security man to walk up and down the street to flag a taxi for me, I was properly pampered. Much as I love my SAs in the US, the Europeans really know how to take care of its clientele. Call Jessica if you are in Paris or Europe, 01-5305-9895 to order. If you live Stateside– Call Alexis at Chanel boutique in Highland Park- 214-520-1055 More pictures after the jump!

Sideview of the bag with the chain tucked in on the side, it gives it an interesting look. You can hide the chain if you like but I like it, it’s small and delicate, very Chanel.

The buckle is fabulous, see the four little buttons? It’s the signature for the Paris-London collection this year.

The back, you should see how small the quilt is, so cute!

The interior has a cell phone holder and interior pocket with a key fob.

This top clasp version is also adorable though I find mine more functional for daily use because of the shape and size.

mmm… so pretty. I was just browsing that bag yesterday and trying to think of an “occasion” so that I could justify it’s homecoming to my husband.

    Very pretty!

What do you think of these couture bags? They are shaped like dogs, but are chic enough to wear out on the town! http://style-ology.com/?p=62

    Hello girls,

I am glad you like this bag, it’s so dreamy! The purple color is gorgeous, it sealed the deal for me :)

I saw another lovely today, it has a cool jeweled clasp with the chain wrapped around it. This Paris-London collection is really rockin’!!!

Lottie– hop over! I’ll be in London soon…. but mostly to see friends as I never have much luck shopping in London, I do well in Paris though- had a great time at the Hermes boutique, too :)

    xoxo

Oh, how I miss Paris. Last time I was there, my hotel was only a stone toss away from Chanel on Rue du Faubourg. We had the SA calling everywhere trying to find us a bubble ring. She did not fail us! ~ smile

Well have a fantastic time with your friends in London…can’t wait to see all your Hermes purchases, and the other Chanel bag!?

So jealous of all your purple purchases I have been looking for a purple bag since the Mqueen Elvie but I’d bought the Red elvie already and its so not a useable bag!!! Any ideas on a gorgoeus purple bag i was looking at possibly a Hermes but would I get fed up of it…am i best to go for a fun bag in this colour?!

I think this Chanel in purple would be great for you but the Gerard Darel is to die… so boho chic and a true purple. I will go downstairs to snap a photo, hopefully she’ll let me. If not, I will have to buy it, it’s for work so it’s justifiable, right? LOL

hope you’re enjoying your vacay tina! beautiful bag that you will definitely be able to wear FOREVER. chanel always does that little something extra that makes their bags so much SEXIER than hermes imo.

honestly, i’m not impressed at all. it doesn’t reminisce a chanel style. i was gravely dissatisfied by ss 2008 and hoped that fw 2008 wouldn’t be the same. the frame style looks like the ubiquitous marc jacob stam.

the single braided strap doesn’t look like it can sustain the tension of every day things. not a winner in my book.

Totally love the two bags as I was trying to do a info search for the Chanel bowler bags online. Thumbs up for a great choice, something different than your usual classic Chanel.
