What will your bag be worth in 20 years?

bagsnobpredicts.jpg
Check out the May 5th issue of US magazine, we were asked to estimate the value of the the ridiculous Louis Vuitton Joke bag and the adorable Prada Fairy bag in 20 years. If you bought either of these bags, take good care of them, they'll be worth a fortune in the future! This is what we told US:
The Prada Fairy bag is a slice of modern pop art at its best. The fusion of designer bag and art is a modern day phenomenon and one that is sure to increase in value. Prada bags are not known to keep their value but with James Jean's touch, the Fairy Bag as wearable art should fetch at least $5,000 in 20 years. That is, if he is still alive. If he is not, the price may be double that!

Louis Vuitton is a fashion behemoth that requires quite a bit to stir up. Richard Prince is provocative and edgy and is just what they needed to keep things fresh and one step ahead. LV keeps its value well and being that this bag is a piece of "art" and is trimmed in python, you can be sure in 20 years it will be worth close to $10,000. But I'm just being perfectly objective and rational, otherwise, this bag is a hideous disaster!

Ihave the Prada bag and just love it! The other bag is simply afwul!!! Thank you for another great suggestion.

JK:

I really, really dislike the LV bag with the quotes. It reminds me of the nonsensical Engrish you find printed on clothes and accessories made in China. Combined with that weird iridescent coloring it just looks so tacky.

hummm...
i'll keep this in mind... i'll check on ebay in 20years whehter it's gonna cost that much...
i don't think sooooo

Susan:

Great article bagsnobs. Does price estimate account for inflation? Because in 20 years, $10,000 may be just the average price for a high-end bag.

I am totally in love with the Prada Fairy bag. Is it even still available for purchase? It seems so hard to get, but it's a beautiful bag. I have heard that the color actually bleeds, so you have to be especially careful about taking it out during rain, etc. Plus it's a white color eeps! I still love it though *flutter*

mette:

There have already been many copies of the Prada bag, which look so disgusting and cheap that I don´t wish to talk about the matter at all. Funnily, I quite dig the LV pictured, not that I would ever consider buying anything from that company as long as this MJ is there drawing his lines.

Anne:

What about the birkin, what will that be worth in 20 years?

Suddenly I realise that I am very poor...so maybe I need to work harder and harder to afford my own Prada...
