Valentino Petale Dome Bag

Looks like Valentino hired a new bag designer, Charo. Who else would come up with this ridiculous bag? As if appliques on bags aren't bad enough, they've upped the ante by making the bag itself one giant floral applique. And of course it is red so that no one will be able to overlook you major misstep in judgment. You know, the Valentino Histoire bag is ok, I personally don't like it but at least it has a look to it and definitely went through some sort of thought out design process, but honestly the rest of the Valentino bag collection has just been about over embellishing...with floral appliques and the occasional monstrous bow. Perhaps there are those women who love the Valentino name and will buy it just because, but if they really want to get a handle on the bag market and appeal to actual bag lovers, they need to stop making corsages. At Bergdorf Goodman for $2495, pre-order.

  • It's also been done before . . . better. Remember Tom Ford's YSl rosette bag?

  • doesn't the rosier look like a bad bridesmaid gown hacked together to make a tote?

  • Valentino Histoire bag-ugh:/
This ain't much better,I agree with Kelly-there's just too much embellishing going on,a bag is not a dress,it doesn't need to be adorned with flowers, butterflies etc.
I love Valentino's clothes as they're so feminine but I would never buy one of their bags.

  • Wow, waking up with jet lag and a mild headache is bad enough but to be assaulted with this so early in the morning is inexcusable. Must go wake up Kelly and complain. LOL

  • This bag is so jarring! It looks like a giant lipstick smudge. I don't get the over embellishing thing. Valentino probably has access to all of the best materials and designers in the world. Why would the company allow this past the sketch book? Then again, it may not have been ever sketched, as it, and all of the brand's other bags, look like they've just been vomited. And honestly, I think Charo would come up with a better bag than this. :)

  • Kelly, thank you for the hearty laugh early in the morning - the Charo line made my day.

  • someone needs some deliverance from these hideous excuses for a bag at valentino..pls join me lets call on jesus..

  • Oh bagsnob Kelly!!! You made me laugh!!!
You are a funny witty bagsnob!!

    LOL!
    Hugs!

  • I never understood the Valentino bags because they are SO different from the clothes. It seems like a bag designer who has no connection whatsoever to and who doesn't even look at the clothes, has been designing the bags. I have always found the bags to be loud and tacky with the big V logo, the applications and those monstrous bows. The bags are crass, not classy. Let's hope that with the new designer at the helm, the bags will get a makeover.

  • While I wouldn't spend money on this fellow, I feel that Valentino deserves some credit for practically patenting the rose. Also, I was (and still am) in love with the large bow bag...and clutch and shoe! Can't tell you how many times I have walked around the store with it on my arm, only to relinquish it back to its $1,195.00 price tag =(

  • Kelly- thanks for the laughs! Funny funny.

  • Ay-yi-yi! Kelly and Tina-yes! Only me-Charocuchicuchi-would inspire these bags! It's hellllllascious! But...I'm a press crazy, so I will suck it up. Mamasita has no idea why these Val bags are the flava du jour and why the gossip girls all carry them....they're sooooooo expensive! Really. I guess it's the work by hand...but I'm not moved to do the Cha Cha Slide!

    Viva Cuchicuchi!

    xoxo

  • I saw all of these bags in a Nordstrom in New York and I fell in love. I feel that no one has done a better job with the rosier and fleur as Valentino has this collection. The petal craze has appeared all over modern designer's trunk shows, on their daytime apparel, as well as ready-to-wear dresses and tops, ranging from Target, Anthropology, and even MaxAzria. However, Valentino is alone in using this type of floral embellishment on handbags. The rosier tote, pictured above made its way onto the Lipstick Jungle set this past season, only actress Lindsay Price had the deep red and maroon version. I think this collection is fabulous!
