Mulberry Milton Bag: Snob or Slob?

I appreciate designers going for edgy and different but sometimes when they are at loss for creativity they go off on a tangent that is not creative, just weird. Tell me if you disagree but this bag would have been better left alone as a plain ol' green (if a bit cheap and plastic looking) bag. Adding the buffed metallic leather to only one patch furthers the cheap look of the bag (though $1,595 is not cheap by any means!). They should have gone all the way and added the distressing to the entire bag, at least that would make sense. It also looks like an afterthought, I don't think they set out to design a patch of tumors in the middle of the bag. I don't even mind the pukey almost minty green color with Mulberry signature hardware on each side, but the patch ruins it for me! Mulberry Milton Bag $1,595 at Net a Porter. What do you guys think? Snob or Slob?

  • This bag reminds me of rather unpleasant accident that I had about a year ago-my fur-covered bag got caught in a friend's wheelchair's wheel, leaving a bold patch. Needless to say my lovely bag went straight to the bin and I couldn't get over the loss for weeks. Mulberry has disappointed as never before with this 'creation'

  • It looks as though the bag has been dropped on a freshly painted park bench...or perhaps a ventilation grate. Nice try Mulberry.

  • I'm a big Mulberry user and yes, I agree with you this is not a good look for Mulberry.

    Slob.

  • I have never been a fan of Mulberry and this proves why....Also maybe it's just me but the brand just makes me think of my matronly aunt.

  • I´ve been repeating this same thing all over and over: Mulberry is s o out. Usually the leather they use is real hard and not appealing at all. About 15 years ago they made some real nice bags, but that was ages ago. I pass this brand.

  • to me it looks like someone had attempted to get the paint off of a car with a sand blaster and did a shoddy job at it

  • adventures in sponge painting with toast?

  • Not exactly something I expected from Mulberry...

  • I THINK this was an attempt to make the bag look vintage-y and used, but failed miserably

  • Mulberry hit their high spot with the phoebe, annie, bayswater and Roxanne. Their latest offerings have definitely not been up to scratch and their leathers are not of the high quality they used to be. The Oak Darwin is till the best. Maybe it's the high turnover of staff since Vevers left?

  • I've noticed more and more people talking about Mulberry recently on blogs/forums.

I'd say this one is a miss...

  • I believe this to be one of those ultrasound photos on the side of this bag...I can see the head and the little eye...and if you look closely you can see a little arm...

  • looks like someone vandalized this bag. oh for shame.

  • I like the green color and I like the shape, but the metallic makes the bag look like it had a horrible accident and needs to be sent off to be cleaned or repaired. Not something I'd carry around.
