Hermes Kelly Cutouts

I just had to share this with everyone. How fun is it to do a craft project that will actually produce something you want? Now everyone can have their very own little Kelly that they've made themselves, out of paper! Or you can be really crafty and involve some leather! On the Hermes website, you can download the template of 7 different designs, or you can get the blank one and create your own masterpiece (when you get to the site, you must click on the picture of the Kelly cutout to get to the the exact page, it is just right of center). I am not good with stuff like this (it involves glue and cutting within the lines) but I did download it and plan on seeing if I might have a career in handmade bags. I am pretty sure that I will discover that I am better suited at the buying of handmade bags instead =) I am surprised Hermes would do this but I guess they are taking a page from the marketing books of Phillip Morris, train them young so they can grow up to be addicts!

  • Hi Kelly!

I love the relaunch of the Hermes site with all those new cool features. I particularly love the video in the glove factory. That leather looks like spun sugar! I did this Kelly project a few weeks ago, and I gotta say it was really hard! I thought it was going to be as easy as making a paper airplane, but I was by far the more deceived. To get that "belt" through the accordion body shape of the bag is quite finite. Still, it's a great little project.

  • Hmmm... Kelly cutout, sounds really cute. It will be a perfect project for my niece. Hopefully this will tidy her over so she won't try to take our Kelly and Birkins. She already laid claim on a fuchsia Kelly and she is 5.

  • I love it! That would make great place cards at a cocktail party, especially if done in a fun print like damask or toile.

  • This is absolutely adorable! Thanks for the link. I love it how Hermes is getting a bit more creative and interactive with their products. While they may not sell Kelly's on their site, at least they can allow us some fun while we wait for the next one to arrive.

  • I'm having problems with the website. I get to the part where you chose your bag, but the template itself isn't opening. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

  • I am having trouble downloading the Kelly pattern, also.

  • I am so in love... with my little paper bag ;-)

  • To get to the pattern, I had to close all my toolbars to see down towards the bottom of the page. There are two lines that say "see the back" and "I want it". Clicking on "I want it" got the pattern to download. I guess if you can afford the bag, you can afford a bigger monitor :)
