Givenchy Obsession

Givenchy Nightingale, 12.5"x19" $1,995 at Barneys

I am completely obsessed with Givenchy lately, it actually began over a year ago when I first spotted the Nightingale at Barneys but lately I can't get its urban chic bags and edgy sexy shoes out of my mind. My friend Sasha has a similar obsession (one that I can't discuss) and we have spent hours lamenting over Givenchy! I am especially loving the latest Nightingale incarnation in white smooth leather and Tejus lizard handles. Fresh and clean, with just a touch of metallic pizazz, it's really one of the best white bags out right now. And check out the Grommet clutch below ($995), it is smokin' hot à la "Love is a Battlefield"! Givenchy - 583995 (Gold) - Footwear
Okay, so it's about as far from a classic birkin as one can veer in taste but if you knew me you would understand. I get bored easily and need excitement constantly, and let me tell you, Givenchy is exciting! Now that I am a mommy, I don't hit the night scene. But I still like to let the little vixen inside me out for a bit of naughty fun, even if it's only through my bags. Check out the shoes I am drooling over after the jump. At Barneys and Shopbop. Gold gladiator shoes also at Zappos!

What about you, what is your "go to" brand when you want a little excitement?

This really brings out the '80s girl in me. I was all about Joan Jett in junior high school!

How sexy is this gladiator bootie? There is also a gold version but I like the black cuz it's more naughty.

Now this is just retro fabulous. It's ladylike but edgy, my friend got a gold pair when we went shopping last weekend but they were out of my size... sigh... But I got the black pair yesterday at Barneys!!!

  • Great picks, Tina. I too have been obsessing over the Nightingale and the gladiator booties. I would have to say that my "go to" brand when I need edge, if not excitement, is Mr. Pierre Hardy. I feel like a total hipster in his designs! : )

  • mcqueen!!

  • I guess I´d have to see this bag in person.but in the picture the handles pop out too much. Naturally dirt won´t show on them easily, but we all wash our hands, don´t we. No comments about the shoes.

  • Givenchy seems to be on an upswing. I read yesterday that Justin Timberlake is going to be some of their ads. Also, Madonna has been wearing that Givenchy dress around New York all week, even though she's in Paris right now. I like the shoes more than the bag. In the photo it looks a little like a Forever 21 version of YSL. But, I am sure in person it looks lovely. :)

  • The white bag does not photo well. If you look at the gunmetal version, it shows off the details and looks nothing like YSL! http://www.bagsnob.com/2007/02/givenchy_nightingale.html

  • Hi T....I have the nightingale in the patent black cherry/maroon color and also the black leather and I SO!!! LOVE my bags!!! I LOVE GIVENCHY!!! I think its under rated by many peeps!!I'm in love with their shoes as well, but seeing that Im 5'8 I dont always wear heels, but loving all my ballerina flats...
Lanvin, Sue London and Tory Burch just to name a few of my fav designers when it comes to that!!!!! =)

  • J'Adore Givenchy!

  • Those gold shoes are beautiful! But I am sure the black pair you got is more wearable!

  • I ♥ Givenchy Nightingale!

  • I rarely like white bags (or white anything), but this one looks really cool! I love the handles. I still remember a brown Nightingale bag you presented probably over a year ago - before the exotics obsession began - and that bag too had handles in a different material, ostrich I think. Stylish but special. Less is more I think, sometimes in exotics too! I must continue admiring these bags from a distance as no Nightingales are sold anywhere near where I live, not even in the neighboring countries.
