Bag Snob - A Selective Editorial On Bags and Bag Reviews

Jennifer Alfano Spring 2008 Bags

BazaarApr08Big2.jpgBag Designer Jennifer Alfano has been a very busy girl lately! Gracing the pages of several magazines, including April's Bazaar (she once was an editor there along with Thakoon) where her golden hued python Karina bag ($1,995) was featured as one of the best accessories for spring. But the Bag Snobs didn't need a magazine to tell us her bags are smoking hot--we knew it from the minute we laid eyes on them! We first discovered Jennifer through our friends Sari and Dawn over a year ago and loved her from the very first velvet sueded python clutch we saw! I had lunch with Jennifer at Balthazar last summer and discovered she loves to eat as much as I do, and our sisterhood was sealed right there and then over sumptuous fois gras and multiple delectable desserts. Now before you go running to the fridge for a snack, let me tell you about her latest bags!

Left: Oona Silver Python-$1,695 Right: Oona Purple Lizard- $1,895. Both: 11"x5"

Our favorite from her spring line are the Oona clutches, sleek and chic and comes in multiple colors in skins. There is a tiny ribbon of lizard or python skin running through the front flap as well as other details that make the clutch multi-dimensional. Her signature simple oval hardware is available in gold or palladium. The juicy purple lizard is begging me to take it home--it's so elegant and delightful! The Oona is a big clutch so you can hold a lot of stuff in it, but not so oversized that you'll look like you're carrying a baby!

Getaway Totes in Python $2,850 or Gold Leather $1,195 at Jennifer Alfano
The Getaway totes above in silver and purple python, and gold leather are just that--a bag to get away from your daily stress! With this unique tote on your arm, you won't need to fly to St. Tropez to feel happy. I am usually not a tassle person, but if you ever meet Jennifer, you'll understand her laid-back bohemian chic style. Plus they're really not in the way or hanging off to the side somewhere random. It's just an added touch that gives the simple totes a touch of interest. I really enjoy buying bags from designers I know and like. There is a connection, and you get why they do what they do. Does that make sense? Check out Jennifer's bags at her website or buy at Lux Couture!
