I still feel a bit self conscious when I feature Ferragamo because I can't get over the fact that growing up, Ferragamo was for the older set. My fear is that as I approach the "older set" my taste is becoming too mature! But the truth is, I have a lot of room to grow, I still will not wear Chanel jackets or St. John anything (ewww!) because to me, its my mother's style. I guess just like everyone else, I am afraid of getting old! Oh no!! But I swear, this bag from Ferragamo is young and fresh! They just celebrated their 80 year anniversary and they are going strong as long as they can continue to update their look (enough with the bow flats please). I am more in love with this coral color than anything else really, it is still classic but in patent is hip and bright enough for summer. The pleating detail is quite modern for the label but is what bridges the age gap, if my mother had this bag growing up it would have mysteriously ended up in my closet =) The hanging Gancio fob is removabl so this bag can be totally logo free if you so desire. This bag is only $890 making this our Cheap Thrill of the week. It is made in Italy and from a designer that is iconic and 80 years old, which makes me wonder why other high end designer bags have to be so expensive? At Neiman Marcus for $890.

UGhhhhh so not cute - Especially the large heavy looking logo fob thingie hanging way too long off the bag. Looks as if it may hurt if it hit you as you swung it around your shoulder.

Oh no, this bag is just horrible. What a terrible color and it looks like it is made from plastic. I pass this one .
The problem with some coloured patent is that it tends to look plasticky in pictures. Maybe this bag is better in person? In any event, I reckon that this shade (which comes up as a tomato red rather than a coral on my monitor) would suit an American colour palette better than a European one.
Because this bag is not even worth talking about, I am going to have to RAVE about my patchwork clutch that I just received from Dolce and Gabbana!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG the patchwork snakeskin clutch is made with the most incredible colors like chartreuse and magenta( which looks so fabulous with my patent magenta t strap tributes from YSL) and has a patent like sheen that just makes me crazy with excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pictures of this clutch do not even Begin to do it justice! Did I say how obsessed I am this magnificent piece of work!! HeeHee!!!
:) Smiles :) Sheree
I think it's quite cute, actually. It'll be fab with a white dress during the summer!
I love to wear Chanel jackets with T-shirts and jeans. I am still trying to grow into St John pieces my mom gave me. I think it's kinda cute for summer. So does it mean I am getting old??? : ) A gal needs to have some fun sometimes.
I've just seen this bag yesterday in bloomingdales. It certainly looks better and cuter in person. :)
I agree this patent doesn't look great in the pic but I like the color. And I really agree about Ferragamo -- I keep seeing cute bags and even clothes in magazines and when I look up who the designer is I'm horrified :) to see that it is Ferragamo!
I absolutely loved the white high waist, wide leg white pants in Harper's Bazaar last month. I called the New York store to order the whole outfit only to find that it is unavailabe -- they made it only for the photo shoot! Huh? Oh well they almost got me but I guess I'm saved. I am the big 4-0 though :/
love the handcuff! lol. the color and size makes me squeal with delight.
I am a newbie snob, just graduating from a life long Coach person to my first ever Lanvin bag). Having caught the bug, I've been studying products and styles of various designers and have decided that Ferragamo really suits me. Some of the classic designs are a little bit on the older side, but I love the shapes and colors of the more modern bags. Call me a dork...but I love the "Fiera Carnival" series of bags...I love the jaguar print! That's my next purchase. Other posters are right...the Gancio patent tote is really nice in person.
well Ferragamo was still in style for me. Actually its not one the bag itself but on how we carry and make that bag fits on our attire
I just discovered this really vintagy looking ferragamo in a closet. And at first I thought it was a bit bulky looking- it was black leather with snakeskin trim and huge gold chain straps in a trapezoid shape, but then I thought, a younger person could totally dress it down...sorta what i see some of these younger celebrities doing with more vintage looking accessories.
This bag is too plastic looking and this color is just off! chanel has a new orange/coral color also in patent that is just gorgeous! perhaps this bag looks better in person...as for chanel and st johns, while i agree some of the st. johns are "old" looking, some of the basic black and their duster ( i have one in black and one in red) is great for any age esp paired with sexy boots...Ping
Sorry, Kelly. Given the choice between a Chanel jacket or this fugly thing, I'd take the Chanel any day. Class is timeless.
I so agree with you on the age thing. But this season, Saks has such great bags by this iconic house that I am seriously stalking a $3450 number as it moves towards the sales rack. After seeing an episode about luxury shoes with that woman from What Not to Wear, I have greater respect for this company overall, due to their unfailing attention to detail and quality.
And anyway, how gives a &^% what age demo a possession might represent. Isn't it more important if YOU love it?
