I have done my part by purchasing almost every 'Green' bag out there and I use them dutifully at stores, but I have never found one that was truly "chic". Eco-- yes, chic-- no. Most look like potato sacks and though we feel good and smug about ourselves when we carry one (as we sneer at those still using plastic bags), we don't feel stylish. But finally, someone has done it right! Kooba's green tote is the BEST eco-chic bag EVER! Not only is it made of organic cotton canvas, it has a very cool recycled metallic cork trim which gives the unbleached cotton just the touch of glam it so needs. How creative is that!?!? This giant tote is 14" x 18" x 6.5", perfect for my beach vacations and for stuffing it full of groceries. Available in Natural and Pale Olive. Exclusively for Barneys Green for $245, okay so it's not $35 like the rest of them but hey, you get what you pay for and this is absolutely Snob worthy!!!
I've been environmentally conscious since I was 10 and really don't see the need to flaunt or buy extra shopping bags just so they can be shopping bags. We all have enough bags so why not just use something fabulous that we already own? Who cares if your bag isn't made of organic cotton as long as you have it and you're using it to save another bag, right?
Well said, JC!!! There is so much pressure to buy every eco bag out there and I do my part but I also like to recycle my old bags in my own closet. (Prada sail cloth tote bags circa 1995? Great for groceries AND the park!)
But I think part of the message is, if you are going to buy a new bag anyway, why not buy one that is chic AND eco-friendly. Which is why I love this Kooba :) xo
I love this bag ! It is really an attractive bag,the layering of the fabric is very eye catching ,the eco grocery bag has been forever changed ! I would use this bag as my purse and the extra convience of it being an eco bag would be a benefit as I would have one less item to lug home .
I absolutely love the look of this bag.
Far too often designers jump on the eco-bandwagon and use re-cycled materials without any thought about practicability, forgoing that over 'style'.
I'm all for eco-friendliness and as this bag shows, it doesn't have to be at the expense of style or usability.
Thanks for the great heads up on Kooba.
ok, I LOVE this bag and have to get one.
I got the AH bag, but it's NOTHING compared to this.
To me, it's just like the $1 bags you get at the grocery store, only with a name.
THIS bag on the other hand is VERY stylish and more reasonably priced (for my pocketbook) than the Prada. Ok, and I'm not a big fan of Prada either.
This bag looks really cute but the price is way overboard. I found great bags at http://www.GreenChicBagCo.com that are fun and stylish but reasonably priced. I started with one and now I have 6! They are always adding new patterns.
