Bottega Veneta Cerva Illusion Hobo

I have to admit that I cringed when I first saw the Cerva Illusion Hobo at the Bottega trunk show. But the more I look at it, the more I appreciate the genius design Tomas Maier came up with to showcase the signature Bottega weave! The texture and depth created from the swirls of braided leather is fun and interesting, and the pattern changes depending on the angle you look at it. You must go see it in person--the metallic leather shimmers and moves with the light. It's absolutely delightful! bottegaswirls2.jpg
It is also ultra-functional. The braids are soft, light and lay flat on the shoulder. It opens easily via magnetic closure. But my favorite part, is the ease with which the bag just flops. It's a casual, funky bag that does not take itself too seriously. $2,800 at Net a Porter.

  • i really don't like it

  • For some reason, I guess because it's so easily "replicated" by plastic, I don't like metalic leather. If this were all matte, I would be able to appreciate the craftsmanship more, but with the metalic leather it just wreaks of fickle trends. Maybe I do have to see it in person.

  • I love it!

Bottega does metallic like no one else!
    xo

  • Looks like a toad.

  • I don't like it from the picture. It certainly does not look like it is worth the price.

  • it is soft so it slouches like a toad. it doesnt do that on your shoulder. I saw this at the boutique, the swirls are a shade lighter, almost silvery. quite pretty.

  • I love Bottega bags. They are all so supple and buttery, yummy!!! No one can do beautiful woven like. I love my large Hobo in the chestnut color.

  • don't like the colour...

  • You guys are insane, this is an amazing bag. Have you even seen it? Savvy gal- you are right, supple and buttery like no other brand!

  • LOL, I am just reading your comments and am laughing. How does this look like a toad? :)
Poor Bottega baby, now I feel like I have to buy him and bring him home. He's actually quite cute.

    Grumpy crowd huh? xoxo

  • I own this bag. It is wonderful and beautiful beyond your wildest imagination. It hangs perfectly from the shoulder, and travels well. I've taken it on several trips. The deerskin is so soft, it just puddles. The picture is much shinier than it appears in person. The body has a subtle sheen and the Platino Ossidato weave has a higher sheen.
