YSL Muse Gray Blue

wow Tina, your taste in handbags is so like mine!
I have exactly the same feelings about this bag, I nearly bought the patent black version last year but at the last minute I thought that just too many people wear it.
The color of the above one is just perfect and you're so right about the nonchalance and effortless appeal.
A beautiful and reasonably priced bag indeed.

I have the medium Muse in a perfect shade of cognac brown and it is such an effortless and elegant bag for work/running around the city in the fall and winter. I might have to break my rule of not buying the same bag in different colors and get the blue one as well. It will be fabulous for spring/summer. This rule does not apply to Birkins and Chanel 2.55; perhaps YSL is joining my Holy Grail of bags...

Have you seen the Muse 2 in real life? Is it as fabulous as we anticipated? I am still waiting for mine.

I am so happy you did a story in this bag. I LOVE IT....I got mine 2 weeks ago and it is amazing. I never even thought of getting a Muse since everyone had one, but this color is so lovely I could not resist. I got the Oversize and I can't put it down. YSL has this color also in the Downtown and I am very tempted.

Anonymous- I think you should go for the Muse in gray blue. It's an amazing color and will become a collector's item for sure. xo

Naturally you by now know my feelings for the YSL bags. Have to admit that the shape of this Muse isn´t really tempting,but with this color I´d be happy wear it with my usual outfit,jeans.

It's so funny that Tina wrote this article. I'm trying to decide on my next bag which I want to be a casual, black, throw everything including the kitchen sink bag. And this muse keeps coming to mind. I also initially avoided this bag because I was scared of it's IT bag notoriety, but I really love the shape. I'm from Miami and just spent a week in LA, and the girls out there are still rocking their Muses. And I have to believe that it is because of the style and the comfort (i.e. don't have to worry about it getting scratched, wet, etc.). I love this gray blue color but my last bag purchase was a eggplant Givenchy Nightingale. So I really need a black bag. I'm hoping that the YSL Capri flap comes out in black, or I may cave and get the croc embossed gray anthracite one.

blue is personally my favorite color and this blue muse is a perfect match to my jeans and casual white tops indeed!

Mia- if you can afford it, there is nothing wrong with buying a bag in two different colors. But look through your bag wardrobe. Do you need another large casual tote bag? Remember our 5 categories for the ultimate bag wardrobe: The Tote, The Travel, The Trend, The Treasure and the Clutch. Now if you use your current Muse a lot and are looking to update for Spring/Summer, the Muse Two is a great option.

Julie- If you already have a chocolate Muse, I think you should get the Muse Two. Or if your budget allows, get both ;) Seriously now, you should go to YSL or a department store and walk around the store with the Muse Two to see how you like it in person. As my friend Sasha says, "Muse Two is very hippie dippy- the French homage to American hippies".

Stacey; I have the Capri flap bag in grey anthracite and it is so light and the shades of grey are amazing. It is so easy to use and just enough roomy. I believe they have it in black too,atleast in patent leather.So go girl go!

I looked at this bag too when it first came out but thought it was too carried already so gave it a miss. But when i visited Paris i saw it again in this fabulous colour and was tempted, but was still not sure i didn't want to seem to last season!!!! This and the structure YSL uptown bag i just love!!!! But the uptown doesn't really suit my dilema!!! I have recently bought a kelly and have on order a Birkin 35. But for day to day i have been using my beloved Fendi Spy bag.....yes i know an "IT" bag and very last season but its black and i can dump as much rubbish in it and is great for work and around town. But it has finally given up the handles are stretched and the linning is coming out so i am in search of a new day to day bag around town, with plenty of room to throw things in!!!!! I think this would be a great bag, if i don't want it to just last a season should i go for this colour or the black patent croc?!?! Also i am about 5'6' so should i go for the oversized rather than the large?!? Are you going for the large as your so tiny?

I am only going for the large because the medium is quite small 10x9. The large will actually be a bit big for me but it's going to be my casual big run around town bag.

I would go to the store and see the sizes on you before you make that decision.

As for the black patent- it will always be there. This color won't be. I'd go with this color! It will wear well through winter :)

I almost bought this is black patent for fall but instead went with a chanel patent which I love. But I also keep coming back to this bag, but still have not purchased it. I definitely will just not sure what color. I agree with Tina, the large is a nice size. The oversized is just too big and I am 5'8.

The quest for the perfect spring bag is on, and Tina, you are confusing me with this entry. I was saving my pennies for the new Muse 2, and I love the look of it in the Kate Moss promo. Now this. The M2 has some canvas; the only negative for me. This is still last year's (and the year before) bag, despite the fab new color. With a budget for only one, I'm torn as well. The only two things I'm sure of, it's got to be YSL, and it's got to be blue!

Do not purchase a bag for its new "it" status. This to me is a YSL classic, not last year's bag or the year before. For instance, my Hermes birkins would then be classified as SO 1980 (when they modified the HAC for British actress Jane Birkin) and my Hermes Kelly bags would be SO 1956. :)

So, buy what your heart tells you to. Not what the trend dictates. The Muse and Muse Two are both great bags. It just depends on your needs and personal taste.

As always, spot on. The Muse is the modern classic. I think it's got it all over the Fendi Spy, the Balenciaga Dix, or even the Dior Saddle bags. I will do as you suggested to Julie and walk around with both the bags. I'm not one to buy on line; I need face time with my bag purchase.

I do, however, think there is a time gap that makes a true classic a classic. A chair that is ten years old, is an old chair, even when it is beautiful. Put another 40 years or so on it, and it's now vintage or even antique. The "it" bag phenome isn't of great importance to me. Looking like everyone else on the street is.

Given that, the Muse is a solid, gorgeous bag, and this color is outstanding.

The gray blue Muse just arrived at the Beverly Hills YSL Boutique!! I went and purchased the large size. The medium is too small and the large is like a piece of luggage. The color is amazing!! Love, love, love this Bag!!! From a true Bagaholic!!!!

To Lottie- if you are under 5'8", go for the large. If you are tall, go for the oversized which should really be a travel bag! both are easy to sling around your shoulder :)
