Flash or Stash? Update your Bag Wardrobe for Spring!
By Bag Snob Tina on March 27, 2008 12:00 pm Tina Craig

Worried about looking so last season? We’ve got tips to update your wardrobe without spending a fortune. Learning to shop from your own closet is key to staying stylish and current! Here is a list of what to Flash and what to Stash this season:

FLASH:

Bold Color- Colorful bags remain key for Spring. If you bought a juicy purple bag last season, keep flashin’ it girl! If you want to invest in another bag, blue is the color of the season.

Exotics- Don’t be stashing that python/ostrich/crocodile bag just yet. Exotics are hotter than ever and with prices rising faster than crude oil, you better recycle all the exotics in your closet! Extra hot are exotics in bright colors!

Oversized Clutches- Nop, not going away any time soon. In fact, it will make even the most mundane outfit of T-shirt and jeans look current and fresh!

Big Bags- The giant bag look is staying for now, what can I say? Women love lugging everything in their bags with them, it’s the grown up security blankie.

Winter White- White is great in winter but even better in the Summer, keep flashing your white bags.

Metallic- What could set off a nice tan better than a shimmering gold bag? Flash it baby!

STASH

Black Patent- Flash brightly hued patent leather bags (like Kelly’s yummy blue patent Marjorelle), but you should stash black patent for next season.

Beaded and Embellished- Stash these babies for next Holiday season. Spring/Summer is all about clean and simple lines.

Suede- Sorry if you love your chocolate suede bag, it’s just too heavy a look for the warm days of sunshine.

Fur Bags- This is actually on my permanent stash list. I love a fur coat but not on a bag. Ever.

Animal Prints- Round up your Zebra, Cheetah, Giraffe, Leopard and any other animal print bags and stash it.

MK should stash this Leonello Borghi fur bag deep into her closet, or sell it on eBay.

I´m not so keen on the bright lizard exotics. Maybe due to the northern light.

I like that Michael Kors bag in navy blue at North Park. The SA was kind enough to let me play with it even though I made it clear that I wouldn’t be buying it.

I love the idea of colorful bags for spring! But if you refuse to add color and want to stick to black, I found the perfect bag for you! I found it at http://www.artfulwears.com

You will love this lightweight slouchy faux snakeskin bag. A girl can never have enough black bags! It’s great looking and comfortable.

Okay – so do I flash or stash my gunmetal Ferragamo Marisa bag? I have been agonizing over this because I love the bag, but since it is more gold than silver, thought I had to stash for the summer. Any thoughts for the snob-in-training? Thank you!

Is it just me or does MK is starting to look like Michel Jackson.

That blue Bottega is gorgeous!! I wonder if it is as beautiful of a blue as it appears in the picture? Does anyone know if it is a new color? I have never purchased a Bottega before, only Chanel and LV. I may take a detour for this bag!! AMAZING!!!

I’m dying to know how Kelly likes her blue patent Majorelle???? I got my white patent today and I just don’t know! The bottom seems so very wide or something. And it is a very loooong expanse of unbroken patent…classy and simple or something else? Not sure I love it and as much as I did in the pics. Does anyone else have it yet?

The blue bag is “Julie” and it is a fabulous blue.

Tina, what are your thoughts on the Veneta in caramel? I am so drawn to it for the spring/summer (in addition to the white Miu Miu and blue jean Picotin that I just biught).

How much money did you raise for your charity at the ODLR event? What a worthy cause!

I am thinking of buying an exotic clutch. Love the green, it would be perfect with a pair of Sergio Rossi I purchased but have yet to wear from last year b/c I couldn’t find a bag to go with it. It’s silver with clear and some green crystals.

Hi everyone! sorry I have been MIA all day. The Oscar event was FABULOUS! Lots of readers showed up as well as my friends, a good time was had by all :)

    Now, to your questions.

emailaddress- you can Flash your metallic Marisa from Ferragamo a while longer. Gold is a key look for Spring/Summer! But if you are tired of it, stash it and buy a colorful bag :)

Liz- This blue Bottega Julie is amazing, the blue is true and so pretty!

I will have photos from the party next week.

    Good night all! xoxo

liz, not sure if the julie is in one of BV’s SS07 Resort colors, oceano or SS08′s colors, glacier. IRL oceano is a much brighter blue, as compared to glacier which is a cooler blue. do check out the Spring Summer 08 and Resort 07 Catalogs online at BV, it has oceano and glacier items there.

Switching Your Closet From Winter To Spring

With Spring just a few days away, you must be thinking about the somewhat daunting task of switching your closet(s) around from Winter to Spring. Strangely, I always enjoyed it but I have some strange love for cleaning out my closet. None the less, I want to share a few tips to make it easier.

First, go through all of the stuff in your closet. Try on anything that you think may not fit you anymore. If it doesn’t fit, put it in a pile to donate. Saving things in case they might fit you in the future is silly. Let’s face it, if you are 20 lbs thinner next Winter, aren’t you going to want NEW clothes? Also, donate anything you didn’t wear all Winter. Again, if you didn’t wear it this Winter, you probably won’t wear it next.

After you have cleared all the Winter stuff out, start slowly bringing the Spring clothes in, doing the same thing you did with the Winter clothes. Keep only the clothes that fit you NOW and get rid of anything you didn’t wear last Spring.

    Happy Spring Cleaning!

Fashionista: Good thoughts, but try selling your extras first. Maybe someone might be willing to pay a buck or two. If nobody is interested-then donate them.
