I saw this bag a few days ago and I really hated it, I thought it was too strange looking but then I saw it again today and I had a total change of heart. Sometimes my conservative side get the best of me and I shut out things that are out of the ordinary. That is why this bag is so supremely chic, it is different and fun (because it is a Marni and yes, there is a bit of an obsession with Marni this week). It is a medium size bag (14.5" x 11") so this is not your evening tiny pouch, which makes it a plus because sometimes you still need a normal size bag in the evening and your choices become limited. It is a bit too hip to get all traditional black tie on it but this would be great fun with an outfit you want to dress up. The drop of the handles aren't meant for it to go on the shoulder but even if you can, I would not recommend it. The tinsel is quite itchy - they really do stick out and are all over the place. At Net a Porter for $1250.

I agree with you completely! Very fun for just the right dress and occasion.
This is one of those bags that I look at and think, "I could find this for 5 dollars in a thrift store." Then I think, "while that may be true, it probably isn't made of plastic and smell like old people." I love a fun bag. But, when it comes to "fun" bags, is it worth it to spend so much money. Of course, this a poor person's concern. :) I think today's lunch break requires a Good Will run. :)
you gals are joking right?
five dollars is four dollars more than the bag is worth.
very fendi-esque...
Ewww. Looks like something Phyllis Diller would carry. I remember when hats looked like this. I just don't like the Marni bags, they don't seem to make sense to me from a design or a practical standpoint. Seeing your post Kelly, just reinforces my impressions. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Finally, a Marni bag I DON'T want.
but we all know kelly is the one with the vulgar taste, whereas tina is just safe.
I felt the same way about this bag until I saw a photo on the Sartorialist's blog of a woman carrying this bag - it was great! His blog is at http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/
Ladies, I LOVE your blog - even though you've cost me untold $s in new bags....
Kelly does not have vulgar taste. I would say her taste in bags is hip and casual. Although, I don't see what she likes in this bag.
maybe if I had all the money in the world....and then, only for a costume party!
Not for me, ever. But for Phyllis Diller, absolutely.
I saw this bag in white at Neiman a few days ago. I can't say I'd pick it over, say, the Marni Balloon bag, but it's a perfect representation of Marni's quirkiness. And it makes a statement, jazzing up a plain dress or outfit.
People can complain all they want about how "ugly" it is. Because really, it's just a matter of personal taste. That's why everyone doesn't go around carrying identical bags.
Good Lord! I sure hope this bag looks better in person than it does in the picture, it looks like a Brillo pad with handles! Oh well, when you get tired of the bag, at least your pots and pans will sparkle like never before!
I just bought this bag as I was lusting for it since I first saw it in Saks. But now that I have it home, I don't feel it's worth the $1250 I paid for it, as it has its limitations and at that price point, I could get a more ubiquitous bag. So it's going back,,,,unless it goes on sale for 30%+ off!
