Couture Snob: Herve Leger
By Bag Snob Tina on March 7, 2008 12:58 pm Tina Craig

I adore Herve Leger, I have four Leger dresses including a full length chiffon gown that is to die for. These are my go to dresses when I am feeling frumpy or depressed, slap on a bandage dress that holds everything in (and I mean everything, the secret is in the many hidden panels) and I feel instantly revitalized and glamorous! I even took Kelly to the Rodeo Drive boutique a few months ago and made her buy two of the most flattering skirts she’s ever owned. I know what you’re thinking, something so tight must be uncomfortable but that could not be more untrue! The special bandage style fabric wraps and curves to your body and imprints its memory (without ever stretching out!) and it’s comfy like wearing sweats except you look fabulous, not sloppy. This cheery canary yellow strapless number is on my must have list (as is the canary yellow diamond necklace I saw the other day). It snowed AGAIN last night and I am so ready for Spring it’s not funny. If the weather does not improve, I will head home to sunny California to spend my son’s Spring Break with my family. And when I am home, I always have dozens of parties and dinners to attend with girlfriends, this dress will be perfect for the LA scene! Herve Leger Adelisa strapless dress $1,050 At Net a porter.

This dress, man. Sometimes, I wish I weren’t a man just so I can wear fabulous clothes like that. Menswear can be so freakin’ boring! This buttery color is very luscious.

    Hi Jane,

I consider LA my home as my father and brothers have homes there (although they travel to Asia quite often to their homes in Taiwan and China). I went to USC and stayed in LA for most of my life. xo

    ps(yes, this dress is MAJOR!)

Tina, you would look amazing in that yellow dress!

I have always loved Herve Leger dresses – glad they’re making a comeback.

I’d like to see an editorial of “real” women wearing these types of dresses. They look flattering for women with more boyish figures…

Love the dress, hate the Dallas weather right now! At least this sunny yellow dress will make you feel warm.

    Hi lulu

Trust me, there is nothing boyish about me, I am about as curvy as you can get on a 5′ frame, ask Nichelle :)

Leger fits all body types, I saw Natalie Cole in one at a party and she was rocking it like nobody’s business! And yes, she is over 60 and has curves for days!

Kim Kardasian is FARRRRRRRRRR from boyish and she lives in these dresses. My figure is too tall for these dresses. But I do love how they look n gals who can pull it off . Sexxy!

Gross, Kim Kardashian the one who took her stepfather aka Bruce Jenner to her Playboy nude shoot so he could watch? \

I prefer to think of Cindy Crawford circa 1989 when I think of Herve Leger.

The dress is gorgeous…it’s really funny that you wrote this post because I was torn between buying a new purse or an herve leger dress.

    I still am actually.

My friend told me Herve Leger sold the rights to his name a long time ago, and this dress is now being designed by this other guy (can’t remember who) and the real Herve Leger is designing again using another name. Do you guys know what the name is? Thanks :)

    Jessica

Max Azria bought the Herve Leger brand in 1998.

Herve Leger now designs under Herve L. Leroux (it means Herve The Red- as suggested by longtime friend Karl Lagerfeld)

Tina, just wondering-how on earth do you find time to wear all these fabulous bags and outfits you have? A week is only 7 days and a day 24 hours and I have understood that you have a young son too.

Does anyone know how the sizing works? according to NAP a size M is for a 29″ bust… that seems absurdly small. is that the size bust of the person, or is it the size of the dress and if so what size bust does it stretch to?

    Hi Linda,

that should be the measurement of your bust (right under the bra). I am a 32C and I wear an XS or XXS depending on the style of dress.

I suggest you go to a store that sells Herve Leger and try them on to determine your size. But, net a porter does have a fantastic return policy and it is tax free so you might want to order one from them to try :)

I love Herve Leger! Have you seen his fabulous Fall/Winter collection recently? I reviewed it on my site too! Max Azria’s designs are wearable, flattering, hip, classy, timeless and undoubtedly beautiful. A great choice with this gorgeous canary yellow, Tina! I’m sure it’ll look so great with a patent white bag!

This color is just stunning. I am just worried the strapless style won’t hold up on me. I love the pale pink one on the cover of Glamour, anyone see that? It has little cap sleeves, so pretty!
