Bags and Bubbly with The Bag Snob

oscarinvite.jpg

Don't forget to stop by and check out the latest Oscar bags and have a glass of bubbly! 5% of bag sales will go to Genesis Women's Shelter, one of my favorite charities.

Hi girls, you know I have been loitering around the Oscar boutique for a while now, there are just so many beautiful things to play with (gorgeous gowns, shoes, and bags of course but did you know about the super fab home accessories like ultra luxurious double faced cashmere blankets? Serious heaven, serious! And have I told you about the line of Indian mughal diamond jewels Oscar has? To die!) so I thought it would be fun to get all of my friends together and have a party there! Luckily Oscar hearts me as much as I heart Oscar because like, it would be kind of crazy if I just showed up at the boutique with champagne and 100 friends you know what I mean? I think that is the kind of antics that get girls like Brittany and Paris arrested and you all know I am an upstanding citizen of society so that would not go over well with the hubby!

Anyhow, if you live in the Dallas area (or feel like jetting in), please join me for a glass of champagne and an exclusive preview of Oscar de la Renta's Fall 2008 Bags- yes, Oscar is sending the entire collection from his New York showroom just for us to play with! If you want to get your hands on a Goya bag, this is the time to come and reserve it! The event is on Thursday, March 27th from 1-4pm at the Oscar de la Renta boutique in North Park. LA girls need not fret, Kelly and I will both be at the Melrose store on May 20th to host another Bags and Bubbly party so we'll be able to hang out with you too!
The best part is, 5% of all bags sold from the event will go to one of Bag Snob's favorite charities, Genesis Women's Shelter- I cry every time I go there and hear horrendous tales of battered women. Did you know more women enter the emergency room for domestic violence than car accidents, rapes or muggings combined? Every 12 seconds, a woman is beaten by a boyfriend or husband. Which means by the time you finish reading this, two women will have been physically abused. By buying a bag at the Bags and Bubbly event, you will be helping women who suffer abuse. I toured the shelter (at a secret location so the abusive husbands/boyfriends can't continue to harm them) during my provisional year at the Junior League and was in awe of all the wonderful women who volunteer and work there (most notably the director, Jan Langbein, who inspires me to no end! I had planned to go shopping after my tour to buy a bag I'd been lusting for but after the tour, I realized the money would be better served at the shelter. I wrote Jan a check for the amount of the bag before I left and never thought about that bag again!). Genesis provides counseling, assist in job placements, and offer safe apartments for women and their children to live at (up to six months) while they re-structure their lives. It is an amazing place and hopefully we will make a difference! xo

Tina,
What a fabulous idea! i am sure that it will be a lovely party. Please post pics for those of us in cities without an ODLR boutique (Chicago). Have fun!

So glad a percentage of the proceeds go to such a good cause. Wish I didn't live so far away bacause it sounds like it will be fun too.

So glad a portion of the proceeds are going to a good cause. Too bad I live so far away because it sounds like it will be fun.

cassandra:

Tina and Kelly, I've been reading your blog since the start, and it's been really cool (not to mention inspiring!) seeing how far it's come. Now look at you! Bag Snob is trademarked, the 'snob' blogs have become something of a franchise and you're hob-nobbing with Oscar de la Renta, hosting super chic exclusive events, AND raising money for charity, all in the name of bagsnobbishness! You guys are beyond fab. Wish I could make it to the party but I'm all the way in New Zealand - hopefully you make it over here for the book tour!! That would be awesome - I'll get you to sign a bag for me and make it even more of an investment!

Miffy:

Wish I could be there to finally meet you in person! But alas I will be in London. Please do post pics of all the gorgeous Bag Snob disciples!

Sounds like fun! I'll see you in May on Melrose!

PJH:

Tina, this is so cool. I love the whole concept of this. It's so awesome to me that by doing something you love (blogging, Oscar-ing) you can help other people. That's really awesome!

Bag Snob Tina:

Hi all,
I just got the okay from our Super Agents at CAA (yes, THAT CAA, as in Oprah, Tom, Nicole, etc) to mention our latest project to you...

We are in pre-production for our own Show! Initially it will be web cast but we have big plans for television as well :)

The show will be a mix of designer showroom visits (up close and personal with Oscar, Diane and Vera), How to's, and a mix of beauty, couture and bags.

We do not have a name yet but Snob Network is a possibility. This is really exciting, we start filming in NYC in May! We're working with an amazing producer who really "gets" us and I know this is going to be the best thing ever!

Let us know if there are specific content you'd like to see and we'll try to work it in the show :)
xoxo

lottie:
