Kelly went back to LA so I am running around New York without my partner in crime. It's not as fun to attend the shows alone, there is no one to ooooooooooh or aaaaaaaaaah with and of course going to bag showrooms alone is no fun either because we can't discuss and dissect the bags together afterwards. We always look forward to seeing Michael Kors' bags though- together or not- because regardless of whether or not we approve, we always find them interesting. Michael Kors went all classic for Fall '08 bags yesterday, you can't go wrong playing it safe! The clutches with the hand holder is present again but this time matching leather straps take the stage instead of Rolex inspired chains, we like this detail because it makes carrying a clutch so much easier. Lots of luxe skins were also the focus, frame bags in rich crocodile and soft ostrich will certainly be a hit with the luncheon social crowd.
The ready to wear was of more interest to me. Michael is a great American sportswear designer and he delivers wearable and fabulous clothes season after season. I loved the retro sixties vibe, the wiggle dresses in lilac and floral with rich cashmere casually slung around the shoulder or a sable tossed on effortlessly were my favorites. A purple ostrich cropped jacket was also sublime as was the tweed dress trimmed in fur. I was invited to go to the W lounge at the tents to relax before the show but they closed for Michael Kors' VIP celeb guests half an hour before the show. VIPs as in Sigourney Weaver, Ellen Pompeo, Natasha Richardson, and Debra Messing, whom I am sure showed up to check out the fabulous red carpet gowns!

I like classic and simple. There is a lot to be said for it
so happy the watch straps are gone and that purple ostrich is stunning!
He is my favorite designer!!! Everything he makes you can wear instantly! If I was a gazillionaire, I swear I go and buy up all his collections for Spring and Fall 2008.
Then I would head over to Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan.
